Not chain restaurants. That attracts the opposite.
Local places is where they go. There are some restaurant group small chains that are great like Mastros, Nobu, Houston’s, etc. Which can be included.
Still to this day, mainstream America likes to know what they are getting food wise and cost wise before they walk into the restaurant. That is very hard to do at a local joint. I love trying new places and if it sucks well oh well at least I know. However, the majority of people can’t handle or come to terms with that, so they stick with what they know. It’s why McDonalds and Olive Garden are still in business. Why go to McDonalds when you can go to a local smash burger joint? Why go to Olive Garden when you can go to a local guy who grew up in Florence and cooked his whole life?
Because they know what they are getting.

I'd rub one off in public if Quincys would return. Great salad bar, pretty good steaks, and those damn yeast rolls were my treat in college

When I was growing up, KFC and Pizza Hut were still considered more restaurants than fast food and were staple middle class family stops.

Used to be a favorite of my parents and grandparents.
Also they took us to Sicilys a bunch in BR. I guess when you have 3 kids/grandkids with you its easier to go to a buffet style of place so everyone can get what they want.
Only place we will take our kids to is either mexican or some sort of pizza joint. We can get out for $60-$70 and its about the only thing they won't waste

It’s like $60-$70 bucks just to take the family for something like chick fil a or pizza these days. Nobody with kids is going out to sit down restaurants anymore.
