They revamped the menu and pricing and it’s cleaner/rebranded.

I never lost my love for it but it’s back to its glory.

When I travel to obscure places for work I’ll always look up good local restaurants where I can belly up at a bar alone. It’s glorious.

But sometimes I can’t find anything close worth a shite and Chilis has saved me quite a few times.

That’s not a thing anymore.

Anyone and everyone can look up food places all over time and are gonna go try it.

Pretending that there is a 30A of restaurants where only white folks go, is not a thing anymore

Yep, I had a two day work trip to the Virginia Beach area. Got checked into my hotel around 11 pm and the only place open was Chili's, and was walking distance from my hotel and it absolutely hit the spot.

Busiest store in the entire company for a long stretch. Sherwood Forest, Essen Lane, Monroe and Jackson were consistently in the top five during the mid 90’s.

I had not gone to chilis in.. Well over 10 years.. It might have been the late 2000s, but late year. late summer/early fall I was in the area and had to wait for something and wanted to get something to eat so I went to Chilis on college drive. I thought about how their chicken tenders were really good. It was a somewhat crispy crust and they had a good honey mustard. It was not "I will go there just to get that" good, but it was "if that's where we are going I am definitely getting that" good.

So without really looking and paying attention to how their chicken fingers were done now, I ordered the chicken fingers. It was like chicken tenders you buy in the frozen section at.. Walmart or something. And just an observation, but the workers were either black girls or gay black males. That's cool, the service was not bad, but when our food came out and I saw the chicken "fingers". I could have gone to raising canes and got better chicken fingers and a combo for a few dollars less.

I then thought about it and I think what I used to like was maybe the Santa Fe chicken tenders that had some type of breaded crust that was definitely prepared in house. It was good at a reasonable price. You can't ask for anything more than that.. A reasonable cost for decent food, but those sons a bitches went down on the quality, up on the prices and that is pretty much what most chains have become. They established a brand because familiarity is more valuable than anything. Down graded their food.. And people still go because when they are thinking about where to go eat, they don't have to put much thought into it, they go with what they are familiar with.
