I felt like he was just referring to “normal” families. I was referring to City Club Grill and Bar in River Ranch. Apologies if I don’t qualify for this thread because I’m not middle class

I thought he was referring to City Club in BR, which is a private club for the movers and shakers. Seemed like an odd choice for a distinctly specified middle class thread.

For me, it would be Morrison's Cafeteria in Oglethorpe Mall, Savannah. That's only because my Grandfather would take me there at least once a month when I was a kid.

Anybody remember Smorgasbords? Seemed like there were a lot of them in the 1980's.

I used to tear up Ryan’s in Tuscaloosa in the late 80’s early 90’s. That was a treat worth the 30 minute drive

I still think about how Katrina took Pancho's from us.

Then Two Amigos in Kenner opened and healed our hearts. But Covid took them away from us.

We do not speak of the abomination that was Pancho's on Airline.

That was the servers. They didn't wear gloves or use tongs back in the day.

No one under 50 takes their families to sit down restaurants anymore except for special occasions, and then its at a steak or Italian place. Sit down dining is overwhelmingly for the 50+ crowd now. Youngers are all about drive through, delivery, and then eating at home. The Netflix and chill life. Two completely different cultures. “Family Dining” started disappearing when families did. Look at marriage and fertility rates. Food will follow those trends.

City Club River Ranch is also a private club, not sure if it’s for the movers and shakers though. I felt like the thread was aimed at people with kids dining out. I know it said middle to upper middle class, but I don’t understand putting the qualifier on it.

The guy talking about dining out every night is more off base than someone mentioning a private club

This just isn’t true, although I sometimes question why we don’t just get takeout

We dine out at a minimum once per week. A friend just texted me a bit ago to ask if we wanted to grab dinner this Thursday with our kids. Both couples are in our 30’s.

Every Sunday after church, I can recall vividly. "Serve you, serve you", I loved the chocolate pie.

Ground pati is still in New Orleans. Still good

There was one in BR but my family never went there. I believe it had closed by the time I was at LSU in the late 80s.

Does Steak & Ale still exist? We never went there either.

Weird I don't remember the Sambo's on Acadian. I must've blocked it out of my mind for some reason... I do remember the one in Biloxi, we drove past it several times, Needless to say, we never went in.

My dad loved happy hour at Bennigan's.

Now the wife and I usually hit a local Mexican, Seafood, or Chinese place.

1. If it indeed was, I’d like to file a formal Hurt Feelings Report for not being recruited. Was it my soft serve swirl? My salad topping choices?

2. How did you know?

I have a family of 6. 4 kids ages 14, 9, 7, and 4. We go out to eat probably twice a month consistently. Off the top of my head, we’ve recently been to…

Sarrica’s
Pizza Village
Chuy’s
Cafe Sydnie Mae
Cactus
Superior Grill
Chimes
Dupuy’s

Average bill is probably $180-200.

If we stop for fast food, it can be anywhere from $60-90.
