Don’t wanna be a buzzkill. Our buddy turned 16 Friday and the goal was to get him to his birthday. Appointment for euthanasia tomorrow and it’s got me all up in my feels. He has given us so many great memories and was a great dog. He looks like he feels terrible and has lost a ton of weight even while eating. He’s collapsed on me a couple times in the last month and I feel it’s time. Don’t really know what I’m looking for in this thread, but had to air it out. Much love to the O-T. There’s always some good words in here in times like this. Love y’all

Dogs are love... my condolences.

It's good you'll be with him for his transition... he will be faithfully awaiting you when it comes time for yours. Yes, All Dogs really do Go To Heaven.

Sorry for your loss man, dogs are family. I wish they lived as long as us. Definitely a question I will ask when/if I am blessed to see heaven. Its not fair, but praying it be peaceful, painless, and their memory live on in a potential new family dog

Man it’s always a shitty feeling but you gave your dog an amazing life.

I’ve put down a few Danes I’ve adopted over the years and the last one I had done at home and it was way better than going to the vet.

When they can't control their bowels and can't stand up, it's time. I hope you're having someone come to your house to do it, it seems much less stressful to the pooch, after putting down four of them.

Regardless of what happens tomorrow this will never change. Remember that.

I’m sorry man. It’s brutal. They’re awesome and the time they spend with us is amazing. Hope you and your family make it through the best you can.

We don’t deserve dogs. They’re as pure a creature as possible living in our totally screwed world, take it in stride, and show us nothing but unconditional love in the process.

Prayers for you guys. Give your buddy a head rub from me. Sounds like he’s been a good boy.

God bless. Sounds like he is telling you it’s ok, he’s ready to go.

My heart hurts reading this because I know some day I’ll be in your shoes. I’m on my first dog as an adult and I’m almost 50. I had to wait a long time for the right circumstances to responsibly own a dog. She lights our world up every day, and I will be broken when it’s her time. I don’t have advice but you will be on my mind and in my prayers tomorrow, and the days following. How truly blessed are we to have the boundless love of our dogs? It’s humbling. Truly…..prayers

this is more a celebration of life, than a sad occasion, kind of like when your parents live into their 90s.

I went to a black funeral once, the lady was very elderly, they had the best time at the funeral. White funerals, for anyone living an extraordinary long life she be fun like that.
