By the way, what’s his name?

Shockey. He’s a vizsla boy. Me and wife are big Saints fans and we got him when Jeremy shockey was there. Of course he got traded a year after getting him.

I’ve done this many times. I’m telling you there is nothing more therapeutic than digging that hole while drinking a beer.

My dog died suddenly one night. I guess he had a heart attack due to the COVID vaccine. Just kidding about the COVID vaccine part, but I guess he died suddenly due to a heart attack.

It was sad, but having to put a dog down would probably feel even worse.

Don’t wanna be a buzzkill. Our buddy turned 16 Friday and the goal was to get him to his birthday. Appointment for euthanasia tomorrow and it’s got me all up in my feels. He has given us so many great memories and was a great dog. He looks like he feels terrible and has lost a ton of weight even while eating. He’s collapsed on me a couple times in the last month and I feel it’s time. Don’t really know what I’m looking for in this thread, but had to air it out. Much love to the O-T. There’s always some good words in here in times like this. Love y’all

What kind of dog?

Sounds like you’re making a really good decision in light of some really tough circumstances. I think about the same kind of thing already and my dogs are 5 and 7. Sounds like he was lucky to have you be his family.

So sorry for your loss.
I totally get the pain you are feeling.
Lost our 16 year old chihuahua about 8 months ago.
had to put him to sleep after he had a stroke.
both my grown boys drove 1-1/2 hours to say their goodbyes and we all cried, me especially.
Have lost pets before but this one hurt worse that any of the others because he was first inside dog we had ever had.
Him being with us so long and being a part of my boys life growing up sure didnt help with the pain.
Shed some tears burying him on our property.
But you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

This is the last act of love you can do for him. I know, it tears you up completely inside and it stinks so bad. When there isn't quality of life any longer, when their dignity is gone, it's time to love them and help them go.

Thank you for loving him for all that time!
