Be comforted knowing that you gave him a great life.

I still miss my old boys from years ago. Those of us who have experienced this know how you feel and I offer my condolences to you.

Thank God for the gift of the dog! Had to make that decision this year too! I told everyone how hard it is to make that decision because you’re playing God. I do not want Gods job of when to choose death ??

I have a 15.5 yo and one just about a year younger (less old). He still loves going on our walks and he wanders our property freely. But his hips are bad. He does fine and even runs around on flat ground. And can go up our deck stairs.
But going down is impossible now and he has a hard time getting up on wood floors.

I don’t want to do injections. We are doing all the things to make him comfortable and I assume he’ll stroke out at some point. I just don’t know the point where we’d put him down due to immobility. That’s incredibly difficult given he’s normal otherwise (being deaf and mostly blind notwithstanding).

I’m sorry man.
Take him on the “last ride.”
Pizza, ice cream, chocolate (not dark), whatever. Stay with him until the very end holding his paw. Don’t let him go.
shite I’m tearing up
It’s hard
But over the next 1-2 weeks your pain will begin the healing process.
He’ll he waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge

16 is a good run. You did well by him and sounds like it’s definitely time to give him a compassionate send off. Good luck. Stay with him till it’s done.

When we started a family we wanted a pet for the kids to play with. To us the obvious choice was a labrador, the best dog for kids. He's getting old, turned 15 and the hips started going. Walking and crapping at the same time we knew it was time. Took him to the vet, we get into the room he starts prancing around like what am I doing here.

Had to do it with ours this week. He was 15, we rescued him and he was an amazing little guy. It happened so fast and he just fell off a cliff rapidly. It sucks man.
