My dad was a contractor & I learned a lot. The #1 thing he taught me is get change orders in writing signed by both parties.
A judge worth his salt is going to ask for this.

If $6200 is the only thing in writing, it may be all a court will award him.
I'd pay the $8200 & if he wants to place a lien, he will eventually lose. Or pay the $10k & wash your hands of it.

The contractor is in the wrong.

I watched it 1st time on Prime last night & its the best space related movie I've ever seen. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

If physical copy is your thing I'd say it's well worth it.
