He’s getting paid this:
quote:

$6,100 a week in addition to $150 a day per diem.
because he has this:
quote:

40+ years of electrician experience

I need a nice old folks home sooner than 50 years from now

The discussions around being a tradie have become almost evil. Never encourage anyone to do the trades if you're not going to give them ALL the cons.

Almost every dipshit here that talks about trades is not only not a tradie themselves and never ever talks about the downsides.

Stop being liars and deceivers.

Being a lineman is good money but the risks to physical health up to death is WAY higher than your average office guy.

Hear of deaths and major injuries all the time.

Theres a reason an entire generation of tradesmen told their own children to go to college and get an office job.

Or falling out of buckets working on transmission lines, or the bucket itself falling and killing you.

I think the trades get a reputation for making a lot of money because they drive a 3/4 ton, have a boat, 3 4 wheelers, a side by side, and a get your nails done once a week wife.

Pretty sure they are all just in debt and commiting tax fraud writing off everything they can to the business.

If you want your son to become an electrician, the last thing you should do is tell other parents to also steer their sons into being electricians.

You misunderstood him. He’s not telling his son to be electrician. He just wants to let everyone else’s that it’s a great option.

As of May 2026, the average salary for an electrician in Mississippi is approximately $53,000 to $58,000 per year

I make more than that working IBEW in Mississippi.

I can travel and make 3 times that.

My grandfather was an electrical contractor. So was his brother.

My father and his twin brother were electrical contractors. Their 1st cousin, my 2nd cousin from the OP, is an electrical contractor.

My family installed the lights for the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium and the Mississippi Coliseum on the state fairgrounds.

You can take your post and shove it right up your arse.
