They don't produce that kind of revenue. Data centers get ITEP for 10 years, or PILOTs, and sometimes both on different assets. On top of that they get sales tax exemptions for 20.

It's the things they buy that aren't subject to sales tax. So construction materials, racks, equipment, processors, etc. are all sales tax exempt. And considering there would be a regular replacement of the processors as technologies advance, the 20 years exemption adds up.
META is paying $22 million per year which represents a 1% sales tax per their agreement with the parish.

I don’t have an issue with a tax exemption.
Just not a fan of burning a good industrial site for something that could potentially be obsolete in 15 years and will ask for another exemption to overhaul.
I’d rather this go to automotive or some kind of advanced manufacturing. Or something that can bring a supply chain ecosystem that we can use to draw another industry.
