Possible Data Center in Livingston Parish - would bring in 30+ billion in taxes yearly

Several billion (as in 10s of billions possible to the school system etc)
And people are melting?
I get it to a point, but this is being built on land that was about to become a huge neighborhood currently on private property in walker.
So we either get billions and one less obnoxious neighborhood or we end up in the hole, slowly becoming one of the poorest parishes in the state, with a thousand more homes.
Should LPers be for this or not?

If it actually pays taxes, it would be a good thing. To me it is the tax immunity that is the most offensive.

The agreement is supposedly taxes are being paid in X amount yearly

As long as it is not built on top of or next door to homes that are already there, and it will actually pay taxes, sure, go ahead.

As long as the data centers pay their share of local taxes, and pay for their own water, etc., I have no problem with them.

The entire Louisiana State budget is $47B/yr.......
are you sure that is not supposed to be $30m/yr in taxes? not $30B/yr........

Many elected officials in LP have stated they are unaware of a data center coming to LP.
People need to stop believing everything they see on the internet. This is a serious threat right now.
The original source is from some sensationalist, clickbait blog called "Louisiana Voice"

Granted I no longer understand money volume, but how on earth would a data center generate enough revenue to create $30,000,000,000.00 in parish taxes a year? Or, state taxes? Or, federal taxes? Or, parish, state, and federal taxes combined?

30 billion in annual tax revenue?
Uhh…
Even 30 million would be massive.

Does it have rockets? Cause that's good. Just a data center is bad. That's what I've heard anyways.

And the AI will launch all the killer drones from there

Will this be the excuse to dam the Amite River and flood thousands of acres upstream like they’ve wanted to do for decades? F all that.
