Quit hyperbolizing. Nobody in the middle, myself included, thinks abortion is anywhere near a 'barbaric practice'.

I'm not being hyperbolic.

Physically destroying a human life for convenience - especially in the age of cheap, effective and easily available birth control - is such a regressive and backwards practice that I simply cannot fathom reasonable adults thinking it is anything but barbaric.

But why. What will that change for them re: abortion even they maintain power?

NOTHING! This decision will simply place the responsibilities on the states, like it should have been all along.

I know many think Roe v. Wade is codified law. But instead it’s actually one of the worst decisions from SCOUTUS from a legal standpoint. And considering some of the other dubious rulings it’s had in its history, that’s saying something. It has no legal grounds to stand on. There is nothing in the Constitution that establishes a right to abort a perfectly healthy fetus. The Supreme Court literally pulled it out of their arse.

Didn’t the author(s) of the opinion in Roe v. Wade cite the Ninth Amendment?

Edit: In addition, the Fourteenth Amendment as pertaining to the doctrine of “incorporation.”

Never. Not once. Ever.

Until we started putting fully woke libtards on the court.

That’s your answer.

This is a losing strategy
I'd say no guaranteed federal right to abortion is a huge win. You're focused on winning a battle. This could be a win in the war.

I don't think their typical tantrum will play out the same as when they riot over a criminal getting shot.

Not really, if the mother will die, the child will be born to a life of misery because of health issues, or the mother was a victim of sexual assault then I support abortion, if that’s what the PARENTS (not including sexual assault) choose to do. What I don’t support is be lazy and getting knocked up, then deciding to kill a child in the mother’s womb 4 months down the road. I’m not overly religious, voted for Obama the first time, voted for Trump the second but this issue is a line in the sand for me. Most of this comes down to personal responsibility, which a large section of this country’s population doesn’t have.

Correct.

Nothing has changed other than the states have been empowered.

Exactly. I don’t give a crap what a random person wants to do. It affects me zero. Call me heartless, but I care much more about things that affect myself and my loved ones.

I don’t want to be arse raped via taxes to fund social safety net programs all because someone thinks someone sinned.

Someone else’s sins aren’t my problem.

Dems will show uproar in public but will be celebrating like hell in private, as this just gave them hella more seats November.

Also Biden may appoint a half dozen justices before he gets out.

It's a shame we even consider the court "political." But this decision transcends politics

The court became political the very first time that someone was posted to the position based on their political leanings and it's only gotten worse from there.

The minute that Reagan said he'd post a woman and Biden took it even further, both should have been reprimanded.

I can’t remember a decision leaking in my lifetime.

Perhaps. But the decision to overturn Roe is so big, that if there ever was a case to be first to be leaked in this way, this would probably be it. Also, the conservatives probably won’t this to a be a major moment in American history, so it’s possible that Alito himself leaked it.

It’s just as likely the entire story is a fabrication intended to energize the Democrat vote. Look at the state of the country. Everything is going to shite and all polls point toward an absolute slaughter of Democrats in the midterm. And Biden’s approval is as low as 27% in some polls.

Democrats are desperate. And they’ve shown what they are willing to do in the past when their desperate. Think back to the Russiagate story… it was a complete fabrication. And the Democrats spent four years pushing it along with their propaganda wing better known as the mainstream media.

How many OTers does it take to realize there will be even more trashy and poor people because of this?

So far, seems infinity is the answer there.

They need to close the border, agreed.
