The life insurance ad that keeps popping up on this site asking if you can run a nine minute mile got me thinking. No training but do it tomorrow. I just barely make it.

I’m going to say 70% yes 30% no.

Most of this website could not run a 9 minute mile tomorrow.

Don’t know if I can do it.

But I think I possibly could.

I ran 7 miles this morning at a 10mph pace but if I ever try to run faster, my knees hurt.

I guess I would say I could not.

I am fat and just starting to get back into shape. I average 10 minute miles and that’s running and walking stop start over 3 miles.

1 mile in 9 shouldn’t be a problem

I’ll be honest, it’s been a long time since I’ve run a timed mile. But I’d guess I could run a 7:00-7:15 fairly easily. And I’m in the worst shape of my life right now.

A few years back I ran 26.2 (no sticker) and my pace was about 9:20/mile. Which, I should add, I don’t consider impressive at all. I’m just grateful to have finished.

9 minutes is a long damn time for 1 mile.

What's the point of running a 9 minute mile?

There's no use for it.

I can walk farther than you can in a day. That's more useful.

10 mph (miles per hour) pace = 10 miles in 60 minutes = 6 minute miles

And you’re not sure you can run a 9 minute mile? I assume you are just mathematically challenged.

I could easy. I'd be sore for a week and not make it one foot further though.

The only way you'll get laid is by running faster than she will.

How many could make it a full mile might be a better question.

I can easily run a 7 min mile but on average I’d say 9 min is about right if I’m running long distance.
