9 mins should be relatively easy if youre in any way a physically capable person.

I think I ran a little over 10 minutes I was 50 at the time ( 52 now) at some charity run

Nope.
I’m a sprinter.
Screw long distances of everything over 12-13 yards.
ETA: Guessing 10% or less of this board could pull off a sub-9 minute mile.

I averaged 8:54/mile for a marathon so no problem here.
26.2
26.2

I’ll be honest, it’s been a long time since I’ve run a timed mile. But I’d guess I could run a 7:00-7:15 fairly easily. And I’m in the worst shape of my life right now.
A few years back I ran 26.2 (no sticker) and my pace was about 9:20/mile.
9 minutes is a long damn time for 1 mile.
Meh, it's not fast, but for someone who hasn't run, it's pretty "okay". To me, the 8ish minute mark is starting to get fast. 7 is fast. 6 is quite fast, 5 is competing for a placing at a local race. At least in mid distance events.

What do I get if I can do it?
I assume cheaper life insurance quotes? Actually I don’t know if the ad is just to get your attention or if there actually test people. Maybe it’s just fitbit honesty.

What's the point of running a 9 minute mile? There's no use for it. I can walk farther than you can in a day. That's more useful.
Maybe it’s not exactly a 9 minute mile, but Jim Walmsley ran 100 miles at about a 9:45 pace. Can you walk more than 100 miles?

No way, maybe the college kids that kept in shape but the older baws that haven’t kept up with themselves would struggle to break 10.

A 20 minute mile is an easy walking pace, so just a little over twice as fast. Most people who aren't elderly or disabled should be able to.

Negative. I've never run more than a mile in my life. I can easily bench your arse though.

Brazos Bend 100 miler course record is 13:40:57...that’s an 8min 12sec pace..

There are a lot of Texans on this board. Have you ever been to Texas? Fattest people ive ever seen. No way all those fat arse Texans can run a nine minute mile.

Just 1? Yea I could. In my prime, we couldn’t even try out for a particular sports team if you couldn’t do 2 miles in 12 mins (coach was a super Douche)

If you are a strong person, you should more easily be able to do it. Your conditioning would have to be exceptionally horrible.
A strong but deconditioned person has a massive advantage over a weak but deconditioned person in a timed mile.

My guess is that OT has more people under 40 than over 60 to bump up the numbers. But then again most are from Louisiana and Texas. If this were Oregon or Colorado board I’d probably be more accurate.

Checking in at a brisk 14 minute miler..... built for comfort, not speed.
