Neither one of those fricking pieces of shite ever saw a cent they didn't want to spend. Neither one of those assholes ever saw an American they didn't want to tax to death. frick a Democrat and frick them.

Don’t get me wrong. You’re doing the right thing by all means, but in this system of government we run the show, or are supposed to, and so criticism by those who supposedly run the show for one entrusted with the responsibility to run the show for us in my estimation is not only warranted, but critically important. I know where you’re coming from, and agree with praying for him, and I admittedly need to do a lot better job of that than I have to date, but we absolutely have to hold this guy’s feet to the fire for the incredibly self destructive things he’s done to bring this country to the place it is at present, and especially in standing against those things that run counter to God and His purposes.

As an aside note, he didn’t receive NEARLY the heat for Vietnam as Nixon (who actually got us out of Vietnam) did, and yet from the Gulf of Tonkin incident, to ever more troop deployments without a real stated objective, and extreme micro managing the war with Robert McNamara who created unworkable and tedious rules of engagement for the enemy to use against us, he pretty much created the quagmire all by his lonesome. So by time Nixon took office, there was absolutely no hope for an actual victory, only egressing from the theatre would do, and he did that by bombing the doo doo out of North Vietnam to bring them back to the negotiating table, something LBJ could have done, but failed to do so.

That's because by then the media in this nation had become the mouthpiece for the left that we know and love it as today.

He was the ultimate political opportunist. His policies have been proven to be destructive on many levels. But at the time he was a masterful politician. How he was able to pass the CRA and VRA despite the objections within his own party was pretty masterful at the time.

Call him many things...a scumbag, trash, etc but you can't deny his mastery of politics.

He was not a good President. Belongs in the same category as Joe Biden and Jimmy Carter (the J&J stupid factory).

He's one of the worst Americans of all time and at no point during his entire career as a piece of shite politician did he ever give one iota of a frick about the continued liberty of this nation.

I truly despise that man and I wasn't even alive for his presidency.

Easily one of the worst presidents in American history who completely destroyed the black family structure with his Great Society and War on Poverty. He's also greatly responsible for the clusterfu@k known as Vietnam. He should be universally reviled; Texans should shun his name. One of my earliest memories as a child was my Dad watching the evening news and lamenting "That jackass Lyndon Johnson!"

Not really.

LBJ, Nixon and George "W" Bush are the top three of the bottom in no particular order.

...just since WWII.

Woodrow Wilson was significantly worse than all 3 of these. (Maybe not significantly worse than LBJ, but def worse than Nixon and W).

W wouldn't even crack the top 10 worst presidents, which is saying something.

i have no disagreement with that. i just try to make sure my criticisms are on policy and words, not just making fun of him being a feeble old man with a speech impediment. arguing against bad policy needs to be on substance, not style. as much as i disagree with his policies, that doesn't mean there's not somebody somewhere that has a (sometimes) valid and more well articulated reason for believing that.

i've really taken to telling myself to pray for him any time he does anything i consider idiotic or foolish as it's an intercession for him and repentance for myself.

as humorous and meme worthy as the image is, i prayed for him when he fell this weekend.

Constantly lied to the American people. Sent countless troops into Vietnam, but never the amount needed to end the war. He basically did the worst thing possible: continued to send troops to their deaths but never enough to ensure victory.

Lyndon B. Johnson: "Being President is like being a jackass in a hailstorm. There is nothing to do but to stand there and take it."

I don't know, the Patriot Act alone puts him pretty high on the list. Add in the wars and crashing the economy, and it was pretty bad.

shite, Hoover, Harding, Buchanan, were all worse than most of the ones people list today. Recency bias is a thing.

What is the OT’s take on Lyndon Baines Johnson? Was he a good President in your opinion? Apparently he was a master politician from his days in the Senate, but did that translate into success as the President?

I think a lot of us have heard the darker things about LBJ, from his shady connections and backroom deals to the theory that he was involved in JFK’s assassination (which my grandfather firmly believed in). Last but not least, his decision to pour American troops into Vietnam. How does that affect his overall legacy?

one of the worst presidents in the history of the country only really rivaled by FDR, Carter, Obama and the idiot we have now.

LBJ was also a POS as a person too.

read Caros extensive 3-volume Bio on LBJ

that is, if any of you can even read

I don't believe for a minute that you read all three.

"A Texan Looks At Lyndon" is a true (and much shorter) classic everyone should read if they're interested in LBJ.
