There are still plenty of successful professional athletes in their 30s.
It’s mostly not your body that’s letting you down.

If you’re whining about turning 30, you’re in for a world of hurt after you turn 50.

Stop eating a bunch of fried food.
Diet is the biggest factor for you now. I tried to ignore it when i first turned 30 and i ballooned. I told myself i would just workout more. That dont work.
The other thing you need is self discipline. Nobody is gonna do it for you.
I wish i could still play basketball like i did in my twenties. But in my thirties i turned into a decent golfer.

Anyways, I’m just not the same athletically that I used to be. Just turned 30 and wishing I would have stayed in the gym and eaten better the past few years.

Just wait until you hit your 50s. If I do even just enough arm curls or shoulder presses to warm the muscles up, I'm likely to get some tendon flaring up painfully for the next few days. I can spend weeks on a treadmill (30-40 minutes per day) and barely drop a pound (regardless of what I eat or how much).
You're still in that age range where your body will still react well if you stick with it for just a little while. Enjoy it while it lasts.

My dad is 63 and jacked, I’m glad I had him to show me the way. At 36 I can still do a Chinese getup and my wife at 34 can still do a back handspring. You need to get off your lazy fatass and get going.

Bro your OP made it sound you were like at least 50.

I turn 57 in March. I'm not in the best shape I've ever been in. That was when I was 40. I was recently divorced, working out 5 days a week, riding my bike 5 days a week, and racing every weekend and every Wednesday in the summer. I was 5'8" 142 and all muscle. I won two TMBRA mountain bike races at the CAT 1 level and finished podium or just off it in most of the others.
I'm definitely not that guy.
But I still ride and eat pretty healthy, and play pickleball 5 times a week (I know, this board hates PB almost as much as you do cyclists). I routinely beat the shite out of players half my age and no one believes me when I tell them I'll be 57 next month. I have stayed active and have a passion for competition.
All that makes a difference. I've been a cyclist since 1986. All those miles at intensity build a base that stays with you if you keep at it even half assed.
Ride or rust guys. It's really that simple.

I turn 43 in a few months. Drinking one day a week and home gym setup are big changes I have made since turning 40. I have a treadmill and free weight/bench setup. I workout 4-5 days a week. The biggest help is cutting back on alcohol. I have less energy day after I drink. I have young kids and I hate not being able to keep up with them on weekends

You're 30, not 50. You can turn things back around pretty quickly. I'd let myself get pretty sloppy at 30 but now I'm probably in better shape than I was at 25 or so. Yeah, there are more aches and pains but it's still very much doable.

Wait until you have some hot chick naked in bed and your dong decides to take the night off.
That's a humbling experience.

GTFO with this nonsense.
Get your doughy arse off the fricking sofa and move around a little bit.
I ran 10 half marathons after age 30, and played semi--competitive soccer up until this year. And only some lower leg injuries from the above are stopping me from continuing to do that stuff. (And I'm actively treating those, so I can get right back to it.)

I'm 55 and in a lot better shape now than I was at 30. Sitting behind a desk all day took a toll and I realized I had to do more. Started getting up and going to the gym at 4am 4 days a week. Been doing that for 2 years now and feel great.

30... man up and turn it around.
Up until I hit 50, I could do anything I could do at 18 with the same intensity.
I realized I'm slipping and have doubled down on diet and exercise. If I'm going down, I'm going down fighting.
