Wait till you turn 40. I played golf for the first time this year and I'll be sore for 3 days.

I was probably my strongest at 40 natural and that is comparing myself to 20 something year old me on gear but extremely naive. I caveat that by saying there is definitely something to continuous strength training with no extended gaps of non training. In fact I’m not terribly far off some of my lifts from 40 at 52. The problem with age is recovery and obviously injury prevention.

To the OP, if yer still around after hearing a few hundred people inform you that you aren't actually old (this is true) then check out of the OT and come over to the health/fitness board. You can find all the info you need. Good, supportive folks in there, some ball-busting too. Good times. Nothing wrong with the OT, I love this place, it's mostly the same people on both boards but the "tone" changes if you know what I mean.

fought prostate cancer and won 2 years ago. My dermatologist calls me and after a biopsy below my lip she says it’s squamous cell carcinoma. I have to go in for surgery in a couple weeks to remove it. I was an athlete Whalen I was young ,now I’m 57 It feels like I was playing basketball with my friends just yesterday. I blink and I’m an old man . If you think 30 is bad wait until you hit your 50’s. I dread going to doctors because they find something new every time. shite is depressing

you have no idea what humility is.

That in itself should be humbling to you.

At 30, you've only begun to feel the very tip of Life's dickk.

I’ll admit I could do better taking care of my body, but I’m not obese or anything just eat too much sugar and unhealthy foods.

Anyways, I’m just not the same athletically that I used to be. Just turned 30 and wishing I would have stayed in the gym and eaten better the past few years.

I am a glass is half full guy...I appreciate being able to do close to what I used to be able to do. I replaced 8 feet of plywood and the entire membrane on the roof of our RV a couple of weeks ago AND installed 4000 watts of solar panels, got them wired in and new batteries installed, all over a 3 day weekend. I'm 58 years old and when I was 25 it would have taken that long. Made me pretty happy with myself. I was hurting like hell but I got that shite done and saved $4000 in the process. If I were working like that everyday I suspect I wouldn't have been hurting as bad. Gotta appreciate what you have in life, not regret what you once had or never had...

30 is still young as frick bro. You’re in your prime

Leave the indulging for weekends. Makes it more pleasurable.

You don’t have to work out or exercise everyday, just be active. Go for walks outdoors while the weather is nice.

You may have legitimate issues if you feel this way.

At 31 myself, the only noticeable difference is sometimes recovery from exertion is harder/longer.

My 30’s were fricking awesome.

Get married, have a couple of kids and support that whole crew by yourself for a couple of decades….then get back to me.

Take a lap pussy.

I used to be sharp with a really good memory when I was younger. My memory is not near as good as it used to be. It’s really disheartening. 43 years old. Scary what it will be at 63 or 83.

I wish I was 30 again. I'm 51 now and it hurts to just lay in the bed. Working has been rough on my body but I think I've got another 15yrs in me.

As a man who is in his mid-60s, I couldn't imagine feeling this way in my 30s. I realize that I'm not the same today as I was back then because it takes me longer to recover from things like going for a run than it used to. I sometimes have aches and pains that weren't there before but, that's just a part of getting older. You are only as old as you feel and yes, I feel my age sometimes while others I don't. I'm going to fight feeling old every day that God blesses me with!
