No. You're wrong.

It's a historic. As in, "This is not a historic moment because I'm sure you get things wrong all of the time."

I'd love to tell you it's an honor to educate you, but it's not. Dumbass.

And whatever happened to Strohs?

Stroh Brewery actually bought Schlitz when it foundered. They they hit hard times and sold to Pabst and Coors.

Does anyone remember the name of the dog in the Stroh's ads from the 80s? I think he was an Irish Setter, but he was Spuds Mackenzie before Spuds MacKenzie was Spuds MacKenzie.

I remember my best friend’s parents drank Ballantine beer. They always had it in the fridge and I remember when the can changed. They sometimes had 2 different colored cans. (the labeling was the name vertically top to bottom forming columns around the can. couldn’t find any images of the old labeling)

They were the only ones I ever saw with that brand.

During the 1970s, in an attempt to cut production costs and keep up with growing demands, Schlitz’s owners decided to shorten the beer’s brewing time by implementing a process called “accelerated batch fermentation.” They also opted to replace its malted barley with a cheaper ingredient, corn syrup, and began experimenting with the use of a silica gel to prevent haze once the beer was chilled. (It was obviously a very different time.)

We called it shits because that’s what you got from drinking it. No wonder.

It fell off big time.

Always wondered what happened to this beer. Was my Dad's favorite when I was really young.

They changed the recipe to even more shitty of beer, that's the reason.

^This is correct^

Around 15 years ago they brought back the original recipe and it’s good stuff. Anyone I know who remembered the “classic Schlitz” from the 50’s and 60’s testify to this. I was a bit skeptical when it was reintroduced because the only Schlitz I’d had was the crappy “new” stuff. I’m glad I was proven wrong. I quite enjoy the “old” recipe that they are using now and I’m proud to admit that I’ve consumed quite a bit of it in the past decade and a half.

was having lunch at Ruby Tuesday’s in Metry yeeeears ago, hot young waitress comes to take our order and asks if we know what we’d like, I tried the old “I know what I’d like but it’s not on the menu,” she drops a menu on the floor and stands on it and says “is what you’d like on the menu now?” led to a fun few months

if this really happened, then one or both of these things must be true

1) you are just objectively a good looking dude who could have scored with that chick regardless
2) the waitress was a skank desperately needing some validation

because that is seriously the most played out, cliche one-liner to drop on a waitress that you can do. it's so bad that it's even mocked in the movie Waiting, which is a movie that FOCUSES on played out cliches about that industry.

dude, this was over forty years ago, and she was very attractive, and I wasn’t exactly the elephant man either

ETA: never heard of that movie, I thought I invented that line, and you’re right about I probably didn’t need the line, I had pretty good game back in the day

Correct.

Both referenced in Tone Loc's "Funky Cold Medina" (1989):

"You know what I'm sayin?
I got every dog in the neighborhood breakin' down my door,
I got Spuds McKenzie,
Alex from Strohs,
They won't leave my dog alone with that medina, pal!"

Go drink a Schlitz now, and you can still find it. They sell 16oz, 6 packs at Walmart. It is literally the worst beer I have ever tried.
