Around ten years ago Robert Ballard gave a speech at the campus where I was employed. As a faculty member I was able to have a dinner with him and a handful of other staff. The topic of offshore drilling came up and he was all for it especially tapping into the shallow oil reserves off of California.

In his estimation the amount that exists there would provide an energy source for the US for the next century and a half plus. I’m not going to argue against the guy who discovered the Titanic when it comes to oceanography.
I’m friends with a 2016 and 2020 never Trumper. He’s Jewish. He sat on the sidelines in 2024. Then when the bombing of Iran happened he became a former never Trumper.
An elephant hasn’t taken a shite on the field yet so the program is still far ahead of where it was between the Dave McLain and Barry Alvarez eras.

The tar pit monster in “Army of Darkness” has more redeeming qualities than Katie Porter.
If these two are dumpster fires then the whole damn dump is ablaze in Madison.

frick the Cubs.

Push their shite in. I’ve waited over forty years to excorcise the demons of ‘82. I was six years old, I’m still pissed about that World Series.

If you believe in the will of America, that the little guy can overcome, then you are on board with the Crew. If you hate what the Brewers have done and can do then you are a communist bastard who hates America.

This is what they’ve done all year. The way they run bases puts pressure on the defense and it’s created many, many more scoring opportunities.
I put non ethanol in everything. I finally got my wife to understand this.

You pay more up front but the mileage is better to a point where the cost evens out.

One of our vehicles runs like crap on a 10% ethanol fuel. Non ethanol in that thing and it’s fine.

I make whiskey with corn. I don’t want to waste it as a biofuel.

He’s my favorite at DW.

I’ll listen to all of them but Shapiro turns everything into Israeli propaganda. When he goes down that path I’ll turn on something else unless there is something major going on with Israel. The other is if there’s a constitutional law topic.

I really like Walsh because he’s a bit raw with his takes. He can come across as overly bitter at times and that can get tedious depending on the day.

Knowles is just the wickedly smart nerd who once was an atheist and is now proudly a strong catholic, He is always tying stuff back into his interpretation of faith. He also leaned left at one point and his political ideology shifted. I strongly recommend his book Reasons to Vote for Democrats.

The multi part doc on DW that Knowles did on Hitler and the Pope is very, very good.
I’m skeptical.

If the response to Kirk’s death would not have been as big then Van Jones doesn’t “reveal” this,

Within a day or two of the assassination there were at least two commentators on the right who had talked about this message to Van Jones. One was Shapiro and I can’t recall who the other one was. Maybe Megyn Kelly. Either way I wondered why in the hell isn’t Van Jones bringing this up instead of pundits on the right?

This would’ve been a hell of a lot better for public discourse if Jones disclosed this earlier. The longer it took for him to address it makes it look like he’s trying to capitalize on the sentiment of many who were fans of or at least respected Charlie Kirk.
Bob Uecker talked about furries during a game. I was in my boat fishing and my sides hurt from laughing.

Bob Uecker and furries.

He’s not at UW-Madison, he’s at UW-River Falls.

It’s right in the article.
Disagree. Execution just feeds a blood list.

Lock him up for life and during every hour that he is awake pipe in audio if Charlie Kirk’s speeches, podcast episodes, debates, etc. He’s in his early 20’s so 50+ years of subjecting him to that would be a more satisfying sentence than death.
Hell of a bump.

I’m a Beach Boys nerd as well.

I look at them as two different bands. There’s the pre-Pet Sounds era when they were writing about surfing, cars, and girls. That’s where the bulk of their familiar songs are from. Then there’s the post Pet Sounds/Smile era where they transitioned into more blues, funk, a bit of prof rock mixed in.

The “surfing” era has more catchy tunes that are easy to sing along with but I prefer the post Pet Sounds/Smile era. Some real, real interesting and inventive stuff going on then.

I strongly recommend listening to Andrew Hickey’s podcast on the history of rock music in 500 songs. It’s a great listen from episode one on but if you don’t want to invest that much time up front just start with the episodes on The Beach Boys and listen to those in succession. Episodes that feature a band link through to one another nicely especially once he gets into the 1960’s. The same can be done for The Rolling Stones, Beatles, or any other group that has multiple songs featured.

Grew up 25 minutes from the stadium. A handful of players have hunted deer on my family’s land. I’ve taken a few of those guys open water fishing and ice fishing. Still keep in contact with some of the guys. I worked as a security guard at Lambeau in the 90’s.

Quoting this so it doesn’t get buried.

Access to roofs on college campuses just doesn’t happen. The person on that building was either let up there by someone with access or they had access themselves. The positions I had were academic staff and was considered faculty. I cannot recall at any point in my higher Ed career where faculty had rooftop access at an institution where I was employed.

Something is rotten in Denmark.

Watch the documentary Beyond Human Nature. A guy was murdered at a paper mill because his fellow union members thought he was going to report one of them for stealing an extension cord.

The Monfils case is a bit more murky than Avery. There were James River employees who refused to testify for the defense because Kutska was/is an a-hole and they wanted him out of that place. My cousin was one of them.

Anyone who buys completely into the Making a Murderer narrative lacks critical thinking skills. Sure, the police work was shoddy but that dude is where he belongs. Manitowoc County wasn’t going to be fully on the tab for his wrongful conviction. They were insured against it. That’s a big omission on the part of many.

I was at the Avery salvage yard once getting lower control arms for a Ford Galaxie. That whole clan should be exterminated. Not a single one of their midst is redeeming.

To me, a native of Northeast Wisconsin, the murder during my lifetime that illustrates the darkness and depravity that people can and will sink to is the Margaret Anderson murder. There’s a book on it and a few podcasts have covered it. It’s very possible that one will give you nightmares.
