When will women learn not to wear stuff like this?

I stopped giving them money a couple of years ago. Don’t give them anything. Find something else to do on Saturday in the fall.

Blame that play on the lazy right fielder.

Cam Ward never ran his mouth once and had a fairly average college career. Yet he goes #1 overall because he’s got good character apparently and is ready to work.
In the mind of the victim, this is evidence of racism.

Maybe the best regular season game hitter at the moment, but you cant choke that badly in the playoffs and expect to be considered the best.

Great, we Louisianians haven't slown down our reproducing
You have Catholics to thank for that. And we aren’t done yet.
I see the derisive replies to the other guy who credited Catholics.
But we aren’t more black than the rest of the southern states, which all have higher dropoffs in fertility than we do.
White Catholics in Louisiana are why Louisiana has comparitively less of a drop in birth rate. Chances are if you know a family with 4 or more kids and married parents, they are Catholic, unless you are in Utah.

My kids love going to the mall but it’s a pretty nice area with solid patronage. I think in certain areas malls still thrive depending on clientele.
This thread has been enlightening for me. I thought they were dying all over the country.
re: Why aren't people buried standing up?

Because we want to think of ourselves as being at rest after we die.
Life is a struggle for most people; let them rest in death.

The internet is replacing them, and to a lot of people that is better. But people are also more socially connected 24/7 now, so the idea that people used to love going to a singular place where everyone sort of went to shop and hang out is foreign to them.
The loss of the “third place”
I have the sads.

Cost cutting - Running an online store is much cheaper than running a brick & mortar staffed with employees.
That is not the reason people stopped going to malls. The stores closed after people stopped going.
And that’s not even the point. I’m saying we lost a place to go, that was filled with things to do and people to interact with, and we haven’t replaced it with something better.

Malls were fun. There is no denying that the social class who now says bad things about the mall used to enjoy going there.
What is wrong with shopping malls?

Everyone older than 35 remembers how awesome shopping malls were in the 90s.
And when I see pictures of them now, like in the Instagram link below, I realize that they are going away but nothing better is replacing them. It still looks like it would be a great place to go.
Online shopping vs mall shopping reminds me of streaming vs movie stores.
I’m tempted to say it’s just nostalgia, but going to the mall and going to the movie store were fun activities. Online shopping for clothes and movies to watch are not fun activities in my experience.
And it’s not just them, boo boo.
Decaying Midwest

re: FBI New Orleans & ICE: 31 Deportations form Louisiana including TDA
Posted by Earnest_P on 4/21/25 at 2:56 pm
Yeah, 31 is laughable.
And if I’m understanding the SC’s action correctly, then we might as well give up on the whole thing.
People aren’t going to self-deport now.

re: Louisiana French…

It’s my assumption and hope that Lafayette is going to save Cajun French, as in taking concrete steps and spending money to be sure it survives even if it’s not common.
Growing up in the 80s in Jeff Davis Parish, our only foreign language option was French. It was sometimes taught by Cajuns and sometimes (more often) by French people.
I don’t know when Spanish began being offered.

re: Why do so many people like to lie about how many steps they take a day?
Posted by Earnest_P on 4/17/25 at 9:02 am
If you work in an office and manage to get 15,000 steps a day on a regular basis, you must be a steppin fool in non-work hours.
I’m talking STEPPING!
What device and apps do people like these days? I’m tired of this Apple Watch.
There are a lot of choices between Garmin and Fitbit. Any recs?

If we are looking at an extinction level event, the fact is that few of us here have the means to avoid it.
I’ll make sure to hug my kids a little tighter tonight and try, in my own failing way, to pray for everyone I love and for the world God made.

As an adult I’ve tried to be as non-racist as possible in my real life, and I will continue to try to do that because I believe we are all children of God and that an ultimate healing will occur.
But right now, the sensible thing to do is to be very cautious around blacks. It seems like their hatred of whites is being unleashed. I don’t know if it’s worse statistically now or if it’s just that ubiquitous video is showing us more, but you would have to be delusional to see what I’ve seen and not come to the same conclusion.

Yes, the teachers are the adults and should know better, but it’s absurd to think these 15-17 year old girls and boys are little princes and princesses.
I used to agree with this but now that I have teenagers I no longer do.
Some kids are very grown up by 15-17, some are still just kids. Even if they are mentally mature for their age, they are physically and emotionally naive and do not need to be in romantic relationships with older people.
