That's right: Louisiana doesn't trust the City or their own Department that is charged with the pump's operation to report their status or operational capacity accurately or operate them properly during a storm event.

Who would you trust more LANG or that bunch down there. But this is normal for cities with similar demographics, they just cannot protect and govern themselves.

Update on the family in from Austin...

They have decided they are not going to be able to drive back Saturday (no shit) and now are going to drive back Sunday.

I tried to explain that driving northwest on Sunday will put them driving right back into the storm. It once again fell on deaf ears.

I give up.

Pretty certain this isn’t true.

No, man. They are just going to bring in random National Guardsmen to run all operations without any institutional knowledge until the day before an event.

I'm sure LANG knows all about the SWB's antiquated 25Hz power.

I’ve been bagging up to 100 over the past 2 hours.. don’t feel like scrolling. Any changes? Still looking like LAF/Youngsville?

Where are you located and did you flood in 2016?? 100 bags is a lot!

For those using sandbags, I was under the impression that without using plastic/visquine barrier that it doesn't really help? No idea as we've never needed to even consider it.

Is it just me or does it sound that Mayor in New Orleans and her administration are getting out ahead of this and blaming citizens and saying they are doing a great job. If something bad happens its is the people's fault.

re: Office Barry thread - Significant Flooding Potential
Travel will likely be next to impossible. There are some very low areas between mid/east BR and the airport that will likely be impassable due to water. With the strengthening we've been seeing and higher wind gusts, I expect trees to be downed and blocking roadways as well.

If they must make a flight out tomorrow, then they should probably travel to Lafayette as soon as possible and stay in a hotel room overnight to fly out of LFT.

Nah, I meant shifting the rainfall totals a bit. We'll see what Euro shows.
