It's the oldest state in the country. Not a great place to be a young single guy unless you are in Portland. If you're going to be in Northern Maine, might as well go all in and move to Canada.

This would normally be a no brainer, but for a young single guy out of the house for the first time, Caribou Maine seems like a pretty terrible landing spot

Atlanta, meanwhile, is pretty good in that regard.

Maine is a very beautiful and rural state. Lots of hunting and outdoor activities. Winters are harsh, but an AWD vehicle is what you need. I’d move in a heartbeat especially if young w/o family. DO IT

Lobster rolls are great! Go check it out for a week.

Think the nearest Chick-Fil-A is over 2 hours away.

Beautiful pristine country, good deer hunting, fly fishing, hiking and camping, cold winters you'll get accustomed to, close to Canada for a change of pace, conservative part of the state, timber is the big industry, good down to earth people, yes get a Subaru or any 4 wheel drive.

Go for it with the mindset you'll be there 2-3 years. Every young man should get out in the world away from home to appreciate what life has to offer. And eventually either appreciate what you have back home or decide that's not for you.

Staying in one place all your life you'll never know what was possible.

Maine blows away most places in the USA, but I am biased. I go every year and do a work contract over the summer and bring my family along. One thing I've noted is that there's a surprising number of southern transplants up there. Last time I was there I made several nice people who fled shithole new orleans. So you'll do fine, I'm sure plenty of people from Georgia wind up there too.

Just make sure to look up winter survival tips up there and pick your coworkers brains and you'll be fine.

I'd stay up there full time if I could, but I'm trying to make sure my kids get to spend as much time with my father as they can.

I also went all the time when I was single: used tinder, never lacked for a date or more when I wanted it Just be warned there are some crazy bitches up there that will invite themselves to your place if you seem even the least bit attractive and successful. I've met some women up there that were thirsty beyond belief, and that's fine, but when there's 3-4 of them who all want your time and know where you live, well then you've got problems.

Anyway its worth it just for the experience.

Well, I hope that the train
From Caribou Maine
Runs over your new love affair
You walk the floor
From door to door
And pull out your peroxide hair.

You never was my woman
'Cause you were never true
So all in all if the curtain should fall
Lord, I hope that it falls on you.

Sorry, I can't hear "Caribou, Maine" and not think about that song.

Inland, we will often see 70-90F in mid June to mid August. It can be really temperate. It can be a real bitch.

Moving to Maine sounds like a nightmare for me, personally. But that's only because I despise cold weather.

Think of the size of Baton Rouge with a population of Scott. With less roads. Beautiful area though. No crime.
