What kind of IT job is this and how did you come across it? You can 100% find better in Boston. But it’s liberal AF unlike anywhere I know in Maine

Hooked up with a Maine girl - they def like southern men, but I wouldn’t move there strictly bc of the winters. Snow is miserable

Well this is as good a time as any to break my fast. I’ve lurked hard for ten years. As my name implies, I live in Maine, have since 2012. Caribou is shite for social life. Absolute shite. But it’s great for the outdoorsman. Most of the state is. But it is fricking cold man. I live half way up the coast in Winterport ,and it gets cold, but i Caribou is a different story. Miserable.

at last, a mainer to consult before buying my vacation home.

There are a lot of beautiful places in Maine. Caribou is not one of them. It’s a pretty economically depressed area and has a lot of meth-heads. Most people under 30 years old have fled the area. So, lot of older people and hard core locals. It is the hometown of Senator Susan Collins. I would not leave Atlanta for Caribou but would for other parts of the state…i.e. Portland or along the coast.

Rent dont buy until you decide if want to stay there long term or not. Need a 4wd truck with at least 1 set of tire chains for front tires. Carry a -35 degree sleeping bag in truck while traveling during winter. Bout all i got from my time living in Wyoming.

Oh, throw a shovel in back of truck in case slide off road and have to dig out under the frame to get back on road.

I would move back to the west bank before I lived in Atlanta, so I would be looking for any excuse to haul arse.

We did one of our whitewater rafting trips in Maine. Lots of bad accents, dreary towns, and meth. But if you're an outdoorsman you could do worse.

The only posters who’ve been to Caribou all day no. But if the alternative is Atlanta, I say disregard what those guys say.
