Somebody made a bunch of money for doing nothing. Sounds like it’s par for the course

I’m sure the crab cakes served at the planning meetings were to die for.

Consultants got paid, so that's all that matters in Louisiana.

NOLA and SMART cannot be used as part of the same term.

As with every project in Louisiana that seems to be far fetched, someone made their money and the “project” died a quiet death.

NOLA and the words "Smart City" just don't sound right together.

These folks won’t wait that long. They’ll incorporate under a different name and get paid to do studies for a high speed rail line between NO and BR that will never be built, renovations to Lincoln Beach or Pontchartrain Beach that will never happen, summer reading programs, community policing outreach programs, etc etc.

Corruption is one reason the city can’t have nice things.

The word “smart” should never be associated with NOLA.

Did anyone actually think Nola and smart would ever be used in the same sentence outside of satire?

Taxpayers and citizens got screwed. At least this one came to light, wish the other hundred or so scams the policitians are running would also.

Also don't understand the need for Smart City when the Feds are supposed to be paying for something similar soon (at least from what I recall - maybe I'm wrong on that).

I’m so pumped to be leaving Nola in a month.

And internet where I’m moving is 3 times as fast for 1/3 the cost. I’m paying $80 for 100 Mb right now.

Moving to a town of 30k and we are about to get 300mb for $30.

Those Wi-Fi kiosks would have been destroyed by the local wildlife within 6 months. Then we’d have to hear about “Wi-Fi deserts”.

What are the cities that have blossomed because of these kinds of “project initiatives”?

Plenty of them

But they’re all like in Denmark and Japan.
