It seems like a lot of people are revising history

In the early and mid 2000, Venezuela was certainly cited by many in America as a success story worthy of a closer look and perhaps a learning experience for us here st home.

There has been, but hard to when all have been taken down for over a decade.

it's only going to get worse since the govt there is forcing "smart IDs" on to them all. With the help from the chinese. The govt will be able to track the card, know who you vote for, etc.

Sad as Colombia is getting affected by this too, and Colombia is a solid pro-American country. The most pro-American south of our borders.

Leftist guerillas there are seen like our Unions here by our democrats. Obama f'd up the free trade agreement Bush was trying to get done with them. Dems held it up. Obama signs it after they forced Colombia to make pro-union changes, and more left wing concessions.

Funny how Dems dont think we should get involved in others politics....

Easy to temporarily look good when you seize assets built by capitalists when oil was 148. When all the trained capitalists left the country everything went to shite. Didn't help that they increased every social program possible when oil was 148 and then oil dropped to 30.

Socialism is great as long as you have a solid natural resource to exploit for eternity.

Yet those politicians are too stupid to realize a social democracy only "works" in mostly homogeneous countries with small populations. For example Sweden has the same number of people as North Carolina.

Take from the people who have spent their lives making something of themselves and give to the ones too lazy to do so. Tell the ones getting free shite they will keep getting it as long as they continue to vote for you.
That sounds like what we have now.

calm down, if you like your health insurance, you can keep it. premiums are going to go way down.

calm down, no one's trying to take your guns away.

calm down, no one can "ban" you from social media.

calm down, this is a different socialism. it's gonna work this time.

Scandinavian countries being used as examples by the left are my favorite. On one hand they demand diversity and declare white people are the devil. On the other, they pick the most lily white homogeneous countries as examples of how we need to model our society.

I'd suggest they take the logical shortcut and move to Sweden. They say it's wonderful. Go there and make it even better.

Zappas, strongly disagree.

You could make a long list of celebrities and media members who were all in on Hugo and their socialist revolution. In fact here are a couple readily available...

Michael Moore tweet...
quote:

Hugo Chavez declared the oil belonged 2 the ppl. He used the oil $ 2 eliminate 75% of extreme poverty, provide free health & education 4 all
Side note listed below that tweet... In 2001, Venezuela was one of the richest countries in South America... It is now one of the poorest.

Joseph Stiglitz...
quote:

Speaking at a World Economic Forum, Stiglitz said: “Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez appears to have had success in bringing health and education to the people in the poor neighbourhoods of Caracas.”

Danny Glover...
quote:

“He was not only my friend, he was my brother,” Glover said after Chávez’s death. “It’s difficult for a leader like him to exist in these times. His vision for humanity and the world can only be compared to that of leaders like Nelson Mandela. He was a great man and I cried when he died.”

British Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn…
quote:

Thanks Hugo Chavez for showing that the poor matter and wealth can be shared. He made massive contributions to Venezuela & a very wide world

Jesse Jackson...
quote:

“Hugo fed the hungry. He lifted the poor. He raised their hopes. He helped them realize their dreams. And, so, today we do mourn, because we’ve lost a lot. But we have a lot left – a stable government, an orderly transition,” he said.
