SO, impulse engines? Sounds Trekkie to me.

I think I've settled on the engine swap I'm doing on my jeep.

Nah, specific impulse is a industry term that is used to measure thrust efficiency per unit fuel.

It’s an attribute of all rocket engines or jet engines

Would be a game changer. If we could figure out a way to use this engine on a ship manned with people without killing them we could explore a lot of space if we could move at the speed of light. The kicker would be the ability to avoid collisions moving at such a high speed and G forces.

We could reach Pluto in like 3 hours at that speed. Traveling in our solar system would be like me driving to Jackson. Not to mention being able to have manned travel 5-10 light years away. Such an innovation would be a huge step toward exploring space

So it's basically a flux capacitor.

No. It’s an ion thruster and it’s cool as shite.

G Forces.
It would take nearly a year to reach the speed of light at 1G. You'd travel around 4.5B KM in that time, and that's how far Pluto is from earth at it's closets.
I don't know what the body can handle and for how long, but it would take some extreme engineering to figure out how we could handle higher g's for days, if it's even possible. There's so much issues that our body will have with blood circulation for prolonged periods of acceleration at higher g's.

Much like the rocketdyne J-2 underneath my grandpa's shite... we have a specific impulse of 420 s.

Ever heard of the Twin Ion Engine?

Darth Vader and company had them...Called TIE Fighters, TIE Bombers, and TIE Interceptors.
George Lucas had it before Franklin Chang-Diaz started this research before this Burns fellow came up with it either.

Why must it be manned with people?
