"Reduce game length" is code for "Add more commercials."

surprised and impressed with how well Chucky knows Alabama basketball.
Almost like it was a rehearsed bit. But, it was clearly sanctioned by Oats for exposure.

Only question for me is who replaces big Nelly as the bust arse hustle guy who gets everyone pumped up with his enthusiasm, energy and effort?
My bet is Philon. He was the most competitive guy on the team last year.

I'm so close to just moving on from sports.

lowest floor since Oats’ first year.
Yeah, I don't know about that. We're probably as talented 1-8 as just about any other year. Last year we had 11 good players but none of them were superstars, unless you count a borderline NBA guy in Sears. Barring lots of injuries, I'd say the floor is an average Oats' team. The ceiling is a deep run in March. I suspect some of the freshmen will be better than a lot of people think

is he limited athletically
Honestly, he was limited before the injury. He's a great shooter, but was never really athleticly gifted. I think some are kind of over-hyping what he was/is. He's a good role player, but, much like Youngblood, he has his limitations.
Not trying to be a downer. I like the team, but some of the hype for mid-major transfers has been over the top the past couple years.

The Philon returning talk is hopium.
Maybe, but before Oats' comments, there has been little indication Philon would go in the first round.

wasn't the lack of a Rylan type on the bench; it was another "creator" as Oats puts it.
Yep. And I wasn't a fan of letting Rylan come back anyway.
I'll feel really good about this team if we get Philon back, or fill that role with a good player. That player might be a guy already on the team. A lot of people didn't think Philon was a PG going into last year.

He said he used to chase down his cousins horses on foot
Although I've been critical of his play, I've always said he was an intelligent guy. But, if he thinks he can chase down a horse, I might rethink that.

He's the most explosive mediocre running QB of all time.

I liked Shaun and Mark both better AT BAMA.

Yep, tweet is what I’m saying. We aren’t even tier 2 on NIL spending in basketball this year
That article is about who has spent that much so far, and who he knows easily could. He also mentions a lot of other schools could, if the right player(s) or situations come along. Nothing in that article says Bama can't spend more to fill out the roster, if needed.

Good grief, you can be a "game manager" and be damn good.
Yes, I've made that point in the other QB thread. But, the posts I'm responding to here are using "game manager " to mean ONLY a game manager. The best QBs ARE game managers, in addition to being skilled.

Jones was not an athletic freak.
The only athletic QB freak Bama has had in the past 20 years was Milroe, who was arguably the worst QB of the Saban years.

It's also weird that some people think Ty is a "game manager."

He ran point full time at CSUF
I think he's (or was before the injury) kind of borderline. He was a good enough ball handler to not be a liability against most teams, but he wasn't great either.

We definitely don't need any wings.
Well, he's a guard. But, I do think we're probably looking for more of at least a combo guard, if not a true PG.

Not sure why we didn’t go after Pringle
Probably for the same reasons we let/encouraged him to transfer the first time. I'm not sure why our fans keep clamoring for non-shooting tweeners. Have y'all seen Oats' system?

Have you guys considered instead of doing this for clicks, maybe advertising the site, and trying to have real discussions with good, knowledgeable posters? I know the Finebaum method is proven, but surely it has just about run its course, especially with the general disenchantment that exists in college sports today. I think y'all are helping to dig your own grave.
