Misunderstood careers
I work in parks and rec. My job shares maybe 1% resemblance to what you see on tbe tv show. I go into my office with a normal desk/phone/2 monitor setup and am there for 8 hours. I rarely am ever outside or actually in a park. I don't go to council meetings or build playgrounds or cleanup after people or shite like that. My day to day is probably similar to someone that works at state farm or something. People always ask "is your job like the tv show!?" And I tell them it's absolutely nothing like the show.

Government workers who retire at 49 years old with a full pension you and I have to pay for.

Yeah....for $40k. I don’t begrudge teachers as to this day I remember many of mine that pointed me in the right direction.

I know a guy that managers a dozen or so Walgreens in DFW, I was surprised at how much he made.
But he earned every cent of it. You have to deal with the corporate people that don't have boots on the ground and the dumbass minimum wage workers. Guy works 24/7 literally almost 365.

I think this qualifies more along the lines of “who didn’t know?” You didn’t think some of the best accountants in the world that know how to take advantage of the unnecessarily complex tax scheme and save people significant %s of wealth made $300-400k?
Let me customize the OP for your response. Not all CPA firm partners do taxes, or public financial auditing. Some aren't even accounting majors. And those directors making $300-400k, some aren't event CPAs, and some of those never will be.

I know enough about the Big 4 that I know nobody is coasting.

Easily is a stretch. Also takes a long time to get there and they work all the fricking time. Friends at EY in higher positions work until 1 or 2 in the morning and then get up and go to work at 7. They live miserable lives.

Cops.
My cousin was on Latoya’s list that was posted here, making over $200k.

Are govt workers tax exempt or something else I’m unaware of?
Actually, some state workers pensions are exempt from paying state income taxes

If you aren't at least a senior manager by early to mid 30s you might as well go do something else.
Yes, when you are working you work a lot, but you also get about 8 weeks off a year between holidays and PTO

Do you know any Big 4 accountants? There is no "coasting" in that career.

Try BMT, based of VA, they need people with Ship Constructor Experience.

I am surprised people don't realize this.
Deloitte, EY, P&G, and PWC pay their employees VERY well. They expect a lot from them, but they are paid handsomely.
