it’s been a while since this was an issue, ERCOT has improved. Not sure why you’re shitting on your home state to defend a NY Mayor…

You realize every time we have high heat issues in the south, they ask the same, right?

Is this supposed to be some kind of gotcha?

Name a state or city in the south that has dictated what size soda you can drink. Or outlawed outside BBQ grills. Or taken legal action for a squirrel.

These "requests" or "suggestions" in NYC have a tendency to become law.

My response: Is this the "warm" part of the "warm embrace of collectivism?"

Also, maybe they shouldn't have shut down all those power plants to meet some made up emissions targets.

78 is not too bad. I keep my house at 76. If the day is particularly hot I might drop it to 74 because my living area has tons of window and can get a little stuffy. Once the heat of the day of mostly done, I'll turn it back to 76. Sometimes I will go to 74 at night.

But we are not large people. We run cold most of the time.

When Houston was having bad droughts and temps in the mid 100s everyday during the summers of 2022 and 2023 we kept it at 78 during the day. It ran all day because it was so hot so it didn't feel bad.

exactly why I called him out on it. ERCOT and the state of Texas failed in an incredibly public and humiliating way during the Texas Freeze in 2021. I would know, I had an 8 week old. It was a fricking nightmare.

Since then ERCOT, the state of Texas, and local news affiliates have all been extremely transparent and have thoroughly communicated the status of the Texas power grid during weather events or regular summer heat season.

So he's just lashing out against his home state to provide cover for his boy Mamdami. Weird AF.

My bill has never been under a 100, and I don't mind. I keep the house around 72 to 74 in the day. Bedroom zones in the 60s at night.

OK, I have mixed feelings on this. One one hand, he has no right telling people what to set their AC on. On the other hand, these people will set their thermostat on 65 and then accuse the power company of price gouging when they can't afford their bill.

That's the catch.

If you can deal with a day or two for your system to acclimate, the humidity will get lower even though at a higher temp.

Having said that, mine runs from 74 to 69 at night. The only reason it goes to 74 is so it won't run for the first six hours after dawn. house never goes above 72.

I’m relatively thin and I fricking hate being hot, especially when I sleep.
