New York: it's hot out there, and the power grid is working overtime to keep us cool.

Set your AC to 78 degrees, turn off lights/electronics you're not using, and unplug what you can.

Our City is doing its part too: maintaining the 78 degrees rule in our buildings, dimming/turning off our lights during peak electricity demand, asking private partners to do the same, and powering down non-essential equipment.

A stable grid means the AC stays on, and lives are saved. Let's ease demand — and get through the heat — together.

Sounds like he is trying to avoid any massive electrical outages. I don’t see much wrong with this message.

Really isn't that bad so long as you have some fans running for airflow.

Someone needs to catch his arse having his office or home set at 68.

78° might work when humidity is lower than 50% but that’s disgusting otherwise.

It's crazy, when it's 78 outside it's a nice summer day or great summer night. When it's 78 in my house it feels like 100.

Mine is set to 78 during the day, 76 at night. With a fan on it’s not bad esp after coming in from 95 degree weather.

I would like to invite him over to my house and have home personally ask my wife raise our thermostat to 78 degrees.

I’m sure he’ll try to make a law around this. Future is government controls your thermostat.

mandamni could tell this place to not try and breath under water and this place do it and maybe drown...or just give up and come to the surface coughing.

if 78 ever feels hot to you, step outside for a minute and come back in.

when he owns your apartment building in the future, he’ll just shut your A/C off. Problem solved!

78 inside feels very hot to me

And I don’t want to go outside each time I feel hot inside.

Ftr, science says the ideal sleeping temp for humans for deep sleep and brain health is in the mid 60s.

I'll set mine to 73 while we're home in the evening and 66 at night. If you don't like it, KMWA
