The grill on that Lexus is atrocious.

Always had Lexus, loved them. But recently made the switch to Acura. The suv is not as luxurious as the Lexus, but it’s not far. Infotainment is vastly better. The biggest reason was the driving experience. The Acura offers a nice ride, and can be fun when in sport/sport plus modes.

Wow $65K+ OTD for the GX.

Man I would consider a Highlander, but I'm cheap. I got some family with one and its nice.

The GX is the best SUV on the market, and has been for 10 years now.

Looked at the 2022 MDX. Liked it except for the infotainment system. No touch screen. You had to use a pad on the console to manipulate the infotainment system. Too distracting. Inexcusable for Acura not to have a touch screen in a 2022 model. I passed on it for this reason as I'd hate it. They also have had some early adopters having issues with the 10 speed tranny.

Wife has a 2013 GX. It’s a tank. Terrible gas mileage. Favorite car I’ve ever owned. Will keep it forever.

Get a 4runner. Its cheaper and almost just as good. You will easily get 10 years out of it.

Had a qx70, loved it. Infotainment was horrible though.

I’ve owned both. Didn’t have any issues with either one. The Acura drives like a car, while the GX drives like a truck. However, the GX was the better made vehicle and the one I would buy again (even with current gas prices).

Just bought a Type S MDX and highly recommend it. Drives smooth and the turbo V6 has a lot of power. The Lexus drives like a truck. Both are reliable though.

I had no idea a fully stock modern crossover could somehow have that bad of a gas mileage.

My 2009 MDX just gave up on me after a paltry 381,000 miles.

Nothing but oil, tires, struts, a harmonic balancer and the occasional timing chain replacement.

We actually have both. Daughter now drives the MDX since wife got the GX. MDX is more sporty and fun to drive. GX is taller and has more room. GX feels really well built but both will last a very long time. It's really about personal preference on the type of suv you want to drive.

I’m in this exact market. I currently drive an MDX and have loved it. My only reason for considering the Lexus is size. The Lexus is a little wider but you don’t feel it necessarily once inside. I’ll probably end up with another MDX.

Wife just ordered a second MDX (passed current one to the kids). Loved the service out of the first so it was a no-braine3r to repeat. New model is much bigger inside than our current one. Had to shell out for the SHAWD because it did feel sluggish without. Very happy with the Acura product.

Two totally different products. I am personally a big fan of the GX but the MDX is very competent nice offering. If you are going for a 10 year car, GX all day. It's based on the Prado platform and used like rovers once were. Serious off-road third world stuff. It will ride a bit rougher. But it's a total brick house. The MDX is basically a very large nice station wagon. It's a car-based chassis. Think super-mega-Accord and you're not wrong. I don't want that, but the Honda Accord is a really well-built car so nothing wrong there.

Well said! We have a ‘14 GX and love it, but it’s not for everyone. I expect a GX redesign in next couple years. Outstanding SUV with stellar v8.

but I’m concerned if they drop the NA V8 and put in a hybrid v6 it will lose its reliability. Looking for an suv that will last me 10 years 100k miles+

Well Toyota isn't exactly new to turbos and hybrids...

Not sure how much room you need, but the GX actually has less cabin/cargo room than a 4Runner which isn't much.

The V8/6speed is reliable but archaic, guzzlers fuel, and makes less power than most V6s and turbo 4 cylinders on the market.
