Is the GX the 4Runner equivalent?

The GX is a tank that will last forever. If I didn't have kids, I'd have one.

Problems for expanding family:
1. It's more narrow so multiple carseats become a problem.
2. Third row is unusable.
3. Side opening door is a pain in tight parking lots

The MDX is great. Other less durable, but more practical options include the Chevy Traverse or Suburban

Captains chairs would be my preference with 2 car seats.

You should check out Infiniti SUVs. I just bought a used 2019 QX50 and I am very happy with it.

I have an MDX with 150k miles on it. Runs beautifully.

My next car will also be an MDX because of how reliable this one has been.

Wife has an MDX, I drive a GX. The Lexus is a much more solid vehicle (weight of doors), interior fit and finish (buttons feel more solid), has much better headroom, driver’s seat is positioned like a truck, and it drives like a truck. MDX has much better acceleration, better handling on curves, better gas mileage, but if you’re over 6’ the headroom/visibility is an issue.

Do you want a truck or a car? If you don’t tow anything, don’t go off-road, are under 6’, don’t care about the latest technology, prefer a “softer” ride over potholes and somewhat softer steering (vs a tighter car like handling/ride/steering), and want to feel the gears change (as opposed to the variable transmission) get the Lexus. If you prefer the ride/handling/steering of a car, value the latest technology, value gas mileage, and don’t need to tow/go off road, get the MDX

The GX is far superior. Acura doesnt make good transmissions!

Acura doesn’t make the transmission in the MDX.

The transmission is still a problem in Acura MDX’s. The GX is a much better buy.

The GX460’s engine was tuned down on purpose to make it more reliable. Sacrifice gas mileage for reliability. It’s a Toyota Prado with luxury inside creature comforts. I’d drive the GX460 over the MDX for the reliability and potential resale. Or if you ever get into overlanding with the fam you will be set

I love my GX. 2006 and the styling is better than most SUVs. The new Lexus grills are atrocious.

One thing I really dislike is the swinging “tail gate.”

The GX is a great vehicle

The interiors/tech for the pre-2022 models feel like they're from 2001, but some people prefer that
