I really want a GX 460.
Son-in-law has a ‘19 MY.

Top of the line, wonderful vehicle.

Fixing to trade it in, he & his family do this every three years.

I’d grab the GX as a spare vehicle if it weren’t going for so much now.

I drive a 2015 GX and love it. Planning to drive it for several more years though I like the look of the 2023 Sequoia so I’ll see if I can resist. You won’t regret the GX.

The grill on the Lexus is fugly. I'd go with the sleek MDX.

Rode with my friend today in her brand new GX, with her commenting "this thing is a gas guzzler". She was in a 2020 tahoe before. The gas mileage on my 2021 MDX doesn't have me filling up any more often than my accord I traded in. Which is how mom's measure gas mileage - not mpg but how often we have to stop, ha ha.

Just bought a Type S MDX and highly recommend it.

I gave my 2014 MDX to my son and DIL after I picked up my Type S. They are fired up!

I have a 2008 MDX with 173k miles. Still drives great. The Vtec engine is smooth and still gets the car going pretty quickly. Admittedly, I don't have to have the latest and greatest to be happy. Though I do think the car has aged well and still looks nice. Like others have said with proper maintenance both vehicles are reliable and last a long time. Also, like others said it's probably a mom car but I don't care.

I’ve always thought that generation mdx was a great looking car. Has the same powertrain as the 4th Gen TL. I tried to convince my mom to get one but she chose a Highlander instead.

Too much road noise, looking for a luxury suv.

Like the 2 door broncos though.

They are different vehicles entirely to be honest.

When it comes to reliability, you’re splitting hairs. For my preference, the driving dynamics of the MDX are much better (I drove one in January) and the ELS Studio 3D sound system is damn good, SH-AWD is great, too.

I’ve two friends who own the GX, and they have similar complaints: awful infotainment, swing gate around back sucks, thirsty thirsty thirsty, and drives like a box…but they’d still buy them again — absolutely rock solid power train that would survive nuclear fall out Im sure. Also, Lexus customer service does stand above the rest.

If I were you and you have time, I’d wait for the new GX to come out (if not already?). You can see if you like the new body style, and at least then maybe find a used one others have traded in.

Originally, I wasn't a huge fan of them switching from the 4.7 to the 4.6 on the GX. That 4.7 is freaking bulletproof...but I've come around on it. I preferred the older style without the large grill, but all in all, the GX is a stellar SUV that should last you well over 10 years and 100K.

BTW...my side-vehicle is a 19 year old LX470 with well over 200K on the clock and it is AWESOME.

I think I’m probably going to hold out until the GX redesign. my current car gets 29mpg and I want to let gas prices settle in a bit after this summer. If the new GX gets close to 20mpg, I’ll pull the trigger in a heart beat.

If you are going for looks...then you may want to go for the MDX. If you are going for something else...

...then you might want to reconsider the GX.

I don’t do any off-roading, but I live in New Orleans and the sad truth is I need 4x4 to avoid getting stuck on side streets under construction

Well said! We have a ‘14 GX... Outstanding SUV with stellar V8

Is a capable reliable BOF SUV, but "stellar V8" is a BIG stretch.

I was actually comparing the Lexus LX with the GX. Coming from a Land Cruiser, the LX makes sense but I am not a fan of the new interior. I am hoping they put a hybrid in the GX550 and the styling is a cross between the Sequoia and the LX.
