Daniels will be a first round pick because of the success of QB’s with similar skill set in the NFL. I am willing to bet he doesn’t drop past 20th pick in the first round.

I am not upset at all about him leaving. If he was my kid, I would be advising him to look around for an opportunity to play and get that experience. With that being said, I believe we have the best 2 options on the team left. I would have been more upset with losing Nuss. I wish Howard luck and hope it’s in a conference not named SEC.

This honestly might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever read on tRant, and there’s been a lot of dumb things.
It’s dumb to think that he might get more PT than he got last year and would possibly increase his draft grade, in a year he would be draft eligible?
Nothing I said is untrue. JD has been named the starter but what if he gets hurt or comes out, plays bad, and gets replaced?
My whole point is everyone is expecting him to be at LSU for another 3 years, eventually be the starter in 24 and possibly 25. I merely suggesting that the LSU QB room could be extremely young if it happens and it could be a possibility.
Nuss is draft eligible after next year.
Posted by coondaddy21 on 1/12/23 at 4:08 pm
Next year will be his third year and will be draft eligible. Something people aren’t considering is his ability to declare after next year. It’s not unthinkable to think that he could go in the draft and be considered as a better pro prospect than JD. I think it’s unlikely that he goes but it’s possible that LSU can lose both. If Nuss gets considerable playing time in a dual QB type system, the opportunity for him to go, if he gets a good draft grade, is a real possibility.

I am at the point in my life where I can pay cash for my vehicles but, if I was you and I had a vehicle that got me from point A to point B that was paid for, I wouldn’t have gone into debt to buy this vehicle. But I don’t know your car situation going into this deal.

That’s a great deal for that vehicle. I am seeing them 2018 and above around 28-30K. Yours must have more miles than these others I am seeing listed.

re: Tracking kids and stuff with airtags?
Posted by coondaddy21 on 1/12/23 at 3:05 pm to BeepNode
I seem to think there is a delay in being notified that an AirTag is near your location. I rent Turo cars and this one guy I rent from puts an AirTags in all of his cars. It usually takes about 1-2 days before I am notified that I have an AirTag near my location. If I had to guess, apple has it set up to where if the signal is continually utilizing one specific apple device, then it lets the iPhone user know.
The delay in notification is nice, in the event that you are using them in case of theft of the item. This at least gives you time to locate the device without the thief being able to find it and remove it in the same time frame.

Arkansas, A&M, and Georgia provided the blueprint on how to defend JD and we saw he couldn’t win the game, solely, with his arm. Thanks to HP, LSU won the Arkansas game. If KJ plays, that game goes in the L column.

Not sure losing one of the highest ranked QB recruits in LSU history is equivalent of some 3rd string LB depth.
Howard didn’t want to be here to compete and having 3 scholarship QB’s on a roster is really all most teams usually have or need. LSU will have 3. If you get down to the third string, it’s pretty bad to begin with. Walker wasn’t ready to start and he will now go somewhere else to get either backup or starting reps. LSU needs to sure up its LB position for this defense to be complete. Howard was a 5 star QB on paper. He has yet to prove that on the field. I am not saying he wasn’t worthy of it but there have been many 5 star QB’s who were bust in college.
The benefit to Howard leaving!

re: Transfer Portal
Posted by coondaddy21 on 1/11/23 at 6:43 pm to jcb236
Only allow 1 transfer in the 4 years and allow them to Transfer if they graduate. Also, create a transfer window. One after the final championship game and leave the window open until 2 weeks after spring semester. If you can’t find a transfer location in 6 months or no one wants you, then you need to hang up football.

He definitely needs to improve but again, saying he was terrible against FSU is bull shite.
The frustrating part was the game shouldn’t have even been close at the end. I would have rather him had 350+ yards passing than the rushing yards. He could have easily had that if he wouldn’t have been so eager to run.

I think the issue is defenses are not gonna let his legs beat them next year. He had to learn how to read defenses and make reads quickly. If he can do that come next season he will be just fine. Running QB’s never do well long term
This is correct! We saw his game get seriously exposed when he was unable to run. This will only be magnified next year when teams go directly to using the Arkansas, A&M, and Georgia game plan on defense.

FSU 25/34 209 Yards Passing 2 TD and 114 yards rushing. “Terrible” And that’s a game if you watched Daniels dragged us down the field multiple times and we botched FG and PATs, snapped balls over his head and our star reciver dropped 1 TD and could be bothered to try and catch a second.
Yes, lots of blame to go around in that game and we all know that stats don’t always tell the complete story. Your eyes usually don’t deceive you. Plenty of receivers were running open downfield in that game. 114 yards rushing tells the story of his impulsiveness to run without hanging in the pocket and getting the ball to his play makers.

This is a bad take. You only get one transfer and then you are suppose to sit out if you transfer again to a D1 school.
What do the FSU, Auburn, TN, Arkansas, A&M, and Georgia games all have in common?
Posted by coondaddy21 on 1/11/23 at 5:55 pm
That’s 6 games where the OB play of JD was horrible. Regardless of the yardage in the FSU and TN game, if you watched the game, you can see how deficient his passing game was. Thankfully, 2 of those games LSU still won but how many of you would be ok with 5 losses in a regular season?
Look, JD is a serviceable QB and it’s obvious he has an upside skill set but that won’t be good enough to get this team to the next level. There was a lot of luck that lead this team to win the games it did. If it wasn’t for Perkins, LSU easily loses the Arkansas game.
The one game where it was imperative that LSU wins to remain relevant for the college playoffs and JD laid another egg. BK still couldn’t pull him and give Nuss an opportunity. I get the defense also didn’t show up against A&M but your offense sometimes needs to step up and win games like the A&M game.
BK seemed to be stubborn in his decision to keep JD in some of those games. It was almost like he didn’t want to admit that he was wrong with his decision to start JD and that his decision wasn’t based on competition but was based on a promise to get him to LSU.
JD is now returning to LSU and I can only hope that the offseason competition is truly an open one. We have seen all that we need to see of JD. He has had 4 years of game film. Nuss isn’t perfect, but his ceiling is much higher and can take LSU where it needs to go. JD won’t be leading this team to any college championship game. Sure, he lead LSU to the SEC championship game but it surely wasn’t pretty.
IMO, Nuss needs to be the starter and JD needs to be used as a change of pace QB, very similar to how the Saints utilize Taysom Hill. This way you can utilize each QB’s strengths and you give your team the best chance of winning.

I can’t see how the JD lovers can’t see this fact. Nuss is your prototypical pro QB. His ceiling and pro potential is light years ahead of JD’s. I would be surprised if JD even has any opportunities at starting as a QB in the NFL.
re: Did Kelly bungle the QB succession with bringing in JD after convincing MB to stay.
Posted by coondaddy21 on 1/11/23 at 5:11 pm to The Baker
I believe the QB competition was a farce. I think JD was given assurance he would be the starter short of a major injury. IMO, Nuss is the better QB. I think Howard is aware of the circumstances and sees his shot at becoming a starter is elsewhere.
