Good/bad has to be defined as the right ball for your game, not how much it costs. If I slice the ever loving shite out of everything off the tee, I don't need to go out and buy a Callaway Chrome Tour X (being the highest spinning ball off the driver for mid-swing speed folks) even though they are a GREAT ball.

Anyone pretending that doesn't matter is just being silly.

Find a ball that fits you, and stick with it until you evolve past it. Newer players and high handicappers have to control every single variable they can and be able to predict as much as they can while they develop constistency. The ball absolutely matters.

Now the Jimmy Janicki SEC bidding war begins

Don't bother.

We're all working really hard to pool our funds to keep him. Probably going to be able to pay him something like 850 bucks next year!
I'm still pretty new to all this myself, but I have now gotten to where I absolutely notice the difference in ball characteristics - spin specifically.

The callaway supersoft and the wilson duosoft are well constructed, durable and cost-effective. They are incredibly low-spin off the driver, but they aren't going to check up very well on shots into the green.

Course recommendation around Lakeland, FL

Posted by AUjim on 6/15/26 at 9:26 am
I'm headed down there in a couple weeks for some work stuff and I'm looking to book a round or 2.

Don't need anything fancy. I can tolerate many things, but shitty, torn up greens is not one of them. Thanks for recommendations -

You're probably a bit too simpleminded to understand the actual point.

And we will be completely rebuilding next year due to the wonderful situation that is NIL.

Awesome match. Really cool to see one of the greatest of all time on our field.

BUT-the city and the university totally, completely failed at organizing-there were sections of streets closed, and no police presence to help with traffic flow before or after the match. We live about an hour from the stadium and used the transit service from one of the shuttle lots. We got on the bus @ 6:05 and were lucky to get in at the scheduled 7:30 start time

Arrcos vs. Shotscope vs. Anything Else

Posted by AUjim on 6/9/26 at 2:18 pm
I like the idea of having real, on course shot distance data - not hitting at the range.

What I don't like about arrcos is the annual subscription.
What I don't like about Shotscope is having to carry my phone or the other little device they have, or wearing a watch (i get antsy wearing the wrong shorts or shirt that is the least bit binding)

Anyone use either of these, or something else? I was using the 18 birdies app to track distances, but again, I don't want to fiddle with my phone.

I believe he still owns the house

Except he didnt. That house is/was Tucker's house. Thats the one Tubbs added his name to the deed in 2024. The lake house sold (after many years being listed) in 2018. Both kids went to high school in texas. Its all out there as a matter of public record. Again, i'd rather have Tubs than anyone else that was in the primary, and any democrat, but this is messy.

re: Tuberville residency discussion

I think the interesting thing here is that the law requires 7 years of residency leading up to qualification and thats where it gets murky due to his voting history and tax status. Unless he owns property in an LLC of some sort, there was certainly a break in time that he owned property in Alabama until he got his name added to a deed a couple years back.

I certainly am not rooting for Jones or any of the other republicans that were on the ballot, but this is messy.
Flying out of Atlanta - need a hotel room for the night before the flight and included parking for a few days - getting to the airport via shuttle/train AND getting back to the car efficiently after we get back. Just want it to be easy without spending a bunch of unnecessary $$. Thanks for any recs/suggestions

Those navy jerseys with the white script Auburn are so awesome. Anyone seen a tee shirt version anywhere?

Yeah man! Pretty awesome night of baseball!
Yep. I do not expect the commoners to be able to buy direct from Auburn.

Glasses - what do you recommend?

Posted by AUjim on 5/29/26 at 3:24 pm
I generally don't like wearing sunglasses, especially on the golf course - I just feel like it dulls everything - shapes, lines, contours, etc.

However, my sissy eyes have gotten pretty sensitive to glare - most noticeable while I'm standing over and looking at the ball on a bright day.

Anybody have a good recommendation as to a brand/lens color that would work best reducing glare without overly tinting everything? (won't be wearing while putting).

We need to let Gabe go

No we don't.

The Milwaukee in our regional came in on absolute fire and truly believes they can win the whole damn thing with the way they've played the last few weeks.
So many people apparently don't have the capacity to understand that algorigthms control everything they see and that they (as does everyone) exist in a somewhat involuntary echo chamber that constantly confirms our bias. If I believed everything that came across my feeds, I'd be convinced that girls wearing low-cut tops were the best golfers on the planet.

I see that golf is no different than baseball, football, basketball in that lots of has-been/never-was dudes think they could compete at that level if it just weren't for _________.
