Best news I’ve heard all week. The job of people to unjustly fire someone are getting fired en masse. Excuse me while I play the world’s smallest violin. You all deserve to get kicked to the curb.

I have often wondered how the HR "Generalist" gets let go by another one when they are laid off.

Good riddance.

HR is 100% overhead and dead weight in most companies. If it weren't for lawsuits and compliance it wouldn't even exist.

It’s almost, as if these departments add ZERO to the business bottom line.

So, what you're telling me is that when companies start feeling the crunch of less revenue, they start trimming fat by firing the most useless people first?

Who woulda thought?

Completely useless employees.
In fact, DEI are statistically a detriment to a company's bottom line.
Even major corporations need to watch their bottom line and not waste energies on departments that provide no real benefit to the company's mission, sans appeasing a few woke journalists.

Such talented humans. I can only imagine three of the wokest ones fighting over one job slot and each proclaiming that (whatever pronoun they choose) are the most qualified because they are more this, even more that, and so much more of the other that the other two can't conceive of the relative superiority.

You mean people who don’t generate revenue, even indirectly, are the first to go? Shocker

My first boss gave me great advice, told me to always stay close to the source of revenue as I progressed in my career.

And that doesn’t have to mean sales. All companies have a number of roles absolutely critical to revenue generation. Salespeople do need a product or service to sell after all

I mean…shouldn’t you start with positions that draw salaries but either don’t generate more revenue or save you a ton of money through ingenuity?

Where did HBR drag up this BS stat from? Or how many people lied on that survey question out of guilt?

Explain to me if I a wrong, but the jobs that unfairly fired people.. They would be told by the companies to work for to fire them right? They were just doing the company's dirty work no?

HR can't just up and fire someone without consulting with legal or get word from their hirer up.. I assume??

So racist and ridiculous.

Companies are going to protect those who make them money. Period.

Yes, sales can be bloated, but that’s never where you start. No company is going to cut sales or any other critical execution areas because the HR team is more diverse. If you write that it’s because you have no actual idea how companies work
