This board confuses me. Everyone is happy all of these people are getting laid off.
In theory that isn't good for the economy. If every company actually evaluated each position that someone holds and look at exactly what it is they do and then they start realizing that there are departments that have 2 or 3 people doing a job that can be done by 1 person there would be a lot of layoffs nationwide.
Some people will go on and establish their own business and will hire some of the people who was laid off, but unemployment goes up. Our economy is consumer based and it depends on people spending money so our economy is a double edged sword.

Well, people useless to the company are usually the first ones let go.

People in useless roles do nothing for the economy. With less of these folks sucking up the profit that my folks generate, we’d be able to hire more productive folks and grow the business. But no, we need to slow everything down and run all hires through some BS funnel so some DEI folks can have a job. That job could go to someone actually productive.

Where did HBR drag up this BS stat from?
I found a job listing that I'm more than qualified for. The listed salary range would be between a 10-50% raise (it's based on experience, they want 4-7 years and I'm about to start year 8).
The fairly short job listing used the word "inclusive" TWICE. So I'd be going from a very non-PC small company with no HR department, one in which I find myself frequently laughing during conversations with coworkers, to a company where I'm almost certainly going to have to self-sensor and attend DEI meetings. I'm fine giving up the laughs and keeping my mouth shut for a 50% raise, but I'm not interested in being told that I'm an evil piece of shite 1-2 times a month.

Businesses ran well and better before DIE... these folks can find a role doing something productive... or just go on welfare, which DIE is a corporate form of

DEI and ESG are all driven by activist investment hedge funds that artificially increased value of companies that played the game.

To be fair, DEI types actively root for people in "problematic" industries to lose their companies and jobs.

Eh, when you get 10 emails a week from these people reminding you of the latest retarded fricking diversity newsletter they spent God knows how much money creating all while getting your arse ridden by your boss about your work that actually brings in revenue, you have a certain degree of satisfaction when you see this.

Hate to see it but you love to see it.
I have yet to meet anyone in HR that is worth a crap.
Never met anyone in a DEI role but I can sure as hell bet you won't find a white male in that job.

Honestly it’s a good feeling when you have a quota and can clearly show you’re making the company money and not being a leech. I’m still making more, but it’s fun being well over quota going into Christmas.
