Warning and drying of the eye is a sign that it could still be strengthening but need recon to confirm.

I think we're getting a NE to SW pass right now. Should have that fear confirmed soon.

Sustained 57 mph winds extend 100 miles from the center to the East.

Lafayette is almost certainly getting 50+ mph sustained and close to hurricane force gusts.

It'll probably happen but those distances are over water where there's no friction and the strongest wind field begins to contract immediately after landfall.

Do any of y'all know how bad the surge will be in Golden Meadow?

I posted some images from Golden Meadow on a previous page. Lafourche SO is keeping us updated on twitter.

Completely amateur prediction:

The eye is going into the border between Cameron and Vermillion Parishes. Lafayette is going to get rocked more than expected.

Once this beast reaches the coast, what’s responsible for steering it?

Is it at all possible for it to stall, then head east while falling apart? Or will it continue north?

Someone shared on Facebook a picture saying that a buoy recorded a wave 37’ high and that same buoy recorded a 28’ wave during Katrina.

That’s the kind of fear mongering that’s annoying.

It will ride the high pressure ridge over the southeast right now. That is what tskes it around and across TN.

A trough over Texas is what is allowing it turn north and make landfall.

Jesus, I dickered that post. Had to edit 3 times.

50_tiger I’m in Abbeville and I’m guessing that not far from where I’ll be.

Can you tell me I’m wrong?

Please?

Is the southern eye wall getting exposed due to that shear?

It's going to get absorbed into the trough digging in over Texas and keep rolling around our ridge. There won't be a stall and it won't just go east. It'll go north, and then go east across like Tennessee.

I think what people are talking about when they say straight north are the last few frames on the radar.

It may be a wobble or a jog or whatever, but the last couple of frames Appear to be directly north.
