I cut the cord a while back and thought TWC was my only option to stream.....after a couple minutes I just couldn’t stand it and turned it off

Turns out I have weathernation too so I am watching it, doesn’t seem nearly as bad

Lafayette will absolutely get sustained over 40. Mark it down

The maps give it more than a 90% chance

Every weather app I've checked shows Lafayette will not have winds sustained above 40mph. Lafayette is only under a tropical storm warning

Tropical storm force winds are between 39-73mph. The odds Laffy gets sustained winds >40mph is pretty high

We were getting some good gusts earlier on Northshore but it's dead silent now for the past hour.

Same in Baton Rouge. After that band moved on I haven't seen the first leaf move at all.

So if it goes due north that will affect more places to the east?

Sustained 57 mph winds extend 100 miles from the center to the East.

Lafayette is almost certainly getting 50+ mph sustained and close to hurricane force gusts.

You absolutely do not want to be in the NE Quadrant of this storm as far as winds are concerned, the surge is coming no matter what.

good stuff. What wins? The storm or the dry air?

It's bad stuff. Warming and drying of the eye is a sign that it could still be strengthening but need recon to confirm.
