and the slightly weaker winds.
May get more tree damage though, as you'll get very strong east winds, the eye, then very strong west winds.
The most intense winds are gonna be in the northern eye wall of this northward moving storm. The whole direction of motion east side having the strongest winds is true in general but when hurricanes make landfall the most intense part of the storm and the part that holds together the longest is that eye wall "on top" of the eye as it moves north.

State Police just had to go on KATC to beg people not to go to Facebook for news.

If there is anyone I can reach to in Lake Charles/Sulphur/Cameron, etc. with this post, I strongly suggest you leave. My cousins in Carlyss, LA, south of Sulphur, finally quit being stubborn and are headed to BR now. The interstates are fine right now and you have time if you leave now.
Lake Charles will not be the same after this. It will be Katrina-like flooding all around the city and points west. It is not worth risking the surge and your life. Go either west or east, but do not stay there.

Looks to me that Lafayette is in better shape that before. Looks like she’s gonna climb due north once hitting. Uncle robs models showed 40ish mph for us.

This is Rita for example. While Laura is going to be much stronger the storm starts to deteriorate at landfall and that northern eyewall is what stays strongest.

Hurricane Andrew on this day in 1992...F-3 tornado ripped through LaPlace/Reserve and killed 2.

"For this elevation (beam height from KLCH is around 16,000ft which is ~550-hPa), these radial velocities seen in the E eyewall of #Laura are incredible. Yes that is an inbound 160-mph velocity... at 550-hPa!
This is a very powerful and deep vertical circulation."

Baw on KATC with his camo Trump hat on saying he won't be leaving - looks like he's in Lake Charles.

What does that have to do with anything in this thread? We had multiple threads on it when it happened 6 days ago...
