Kroger and HEB closing stores in Houston @ 6PM tonight for “safety reasons”. WTF?
Just stopped at grocery store on way home and lines were much longer than usual for Wednesday afternoon. Cashier told me people were buying groceries for friends and family in SE TX.

and for those of you who were joking about Laura re-forming once it left the continental US after landfall
from the 4 PM NHC discussion
how 2020 of you, Laura

The cyclone or

weekend and there remains some possibility that Laura will
re-intensify as a tropical cyclone offshore of the United States

Does it make Cat 5 status? I know devastation is the same from a Cat 4 to a Cat 5. Just wondering if we will see at storm come in at 156+ MPH.
If it doesn’t it will get damn close. I think it hits 155 but doesn’t get the extra 5. They might call it a 5 later after measurements are taken though since the NHC doesn’t do anything but increments of 5 in its updates. So it could hit 157mph but the last recon be 155

Just want to say I appreciate all the guys giving us the detailed info. It’s helps a lot.
But at the same time, I equally appreciate the baws providing the comic relief. It’s helping me out a lot right now.

Insurance covers fire. Hard for investigators to go check the homes for a while. I bet “Cajun lightning” strikes a few times.

It's got a little more time and looks as strong as it has all day right now.

NASA site has great coloring of their satellite images. This one seems to show the full extent of Laura the best.
