Doesn't it depend on what time or are they saying that's the max? Doesn't sound right since that area is on the East side of the storm.

Local news said to expect 40mph gusts to 60.

On the tracking chart, I know that the D, S, and H stand for tropical depression, storm and hurricane, but what does the M stand for?

Will there be anyone live-streaming this?

The last hurricane (Michael?) those people live-streaming from their car, then got trapped, they had to abandon their car, and the last video was their car floating away...

Better than most movies...

How much damage do these refineries and chemical plants take during a hurricane?

Power lines get damaged. Cooling towers get damaged and are often the biggest thing to get back in service. The piping and vessels are not going anywhere.

I don't want the cycle to start until near the coast and have the inner eyewall degrade some. The contracting eye makes me think it's a possible outcome. Maybe just hoping.

Is there enough data to have an idea on average time for an EWRC to complete? I know everything is different, but with the attention the process has gotten over recent years, there should be a good idea.

Stop fighting and build the damn Ike dike. It might not stop a 20 ft surge completely, but it will help. Plus 15ft surge, which it would stop is still pretty devastating. Hell, redesign it and make it suitable for 20ft. A few extra billion is a steal compared to the damage it will prevent.
