Boat, I'm at work and we're about to shut down early, so I haven't kept up at all today. What are the wind predictions for BR and surrounding area at landfall?

I imagine this also includes some plants in Beaumont that are taking extra precaution. Still, 425 plants is hard to comprehend.

It sounded like they were more talking individual units. So a single ‘plant’ could count for many more units being taken out of service.

If not already added, "What does M stand for" should be added to the Bingo board. I think I've seen that question 3 times so far. What's even more depressing is that NOAA has a legend on their forecast to explain what it means as far as severity.

Wobble or start of more northerly push now? If storm weakens will it slow down?

On the Hurricane Track cam in Cameron, the road is already under water. It had a good band go through earlier. I'm not sure of the exact location, but the camera is pointed at a small Shell gas station.

Similar to Rita.. 35-40 sustained gusts to 50

For Baton Rouge it depends on where the outer bands set up. The models don't show it happening for the Baton Rouge area but we won't know until it makes landfall.

On 15 September 1989, during observations for Hurricane Hugo, Hunter NOAA42 accidentally flew through an eyewall mesovortex measuring 320 km/h (200 mph) and experienced crippling G-forces of +5.8Gs and -3.7Gs. The winds ripped off the propeller de-icing boot and pushed the flight down to a perilous 1000 ft above sea level. The ruggedized Lockheed WP-3D Orion was only designed for a maximum of +3.5Gs and -1G.
