The weather channel just showed a live look of the I 10 traffic jam leaving Lake Charles. Why have they not instituted contraflow? Didn’t we spend hundreds of millions of dollars on that interstate infrastructure for this specific reason?

I just looked at google maps and I'm not seeing anything in Lake Charles?

Recon in the system, pulled a 953 mb extrapolated pressure. Typically it's 2-3 mb too low, so 955-956 is probably accurate.

She wrapped up, cleared out eye, strengthened, and is now expanding the wind field. Damn.

If this thing creates an issue with people being out of their homes in LC in the midst of the storm....we should without a doubt recall this idiot...and I don't call for recalls lightly.

You’re in Ellick, correct? Which hotel?

My mom lives there. Picked her up the other day (by force) and we left Louisiana entirely. Lost power in parts of Alexandria for over a week during Rita

I believe when Rita hit her strength was on the decline. Laura is weaker mid but intensifying. It could end up worse than Rita.

Rita was the most intense cyclone on record while in the GOM.

I'm not going to say it couldn't, but it doesn't have enough time left and shear will pick up just near landfall.

A category 4 is my baseline at this point.

We had a chance to recall this idiot at the last election. Republicans for Edwards... and this is the incompetence we get. Blood will be on his hands at this rate and he needs to pay for it dearly

What kind of contraflow setup do they have in that area, if one at all? Any good options north other than 171 or 165?
