re: Duck Calling Strategies - TigerDog83
What's your go to rules?
Watch the birds to see what they want. Some days they have to be called more aggressively and it also depends on if you are hunting private ground or public ground. 95% of the time I try to do less calling though and I never call at a bird that's cuppe...

re: Duck calling assistance - TigerDog83
Mallards are more responsive than others to quacks and mallard calling in my general experience and less calling is generally better. Learn to read the birds and only call sparingly has always been what has worked for me. Knowing when to call is more important than almost anything else. ...

re: Best Parish/County in your state? - TigerDog83
Caddo
Maybe at some point in the past but not now. It's got to be St. Tammany right now. I'd Maybe even put Calcasieu up there behind St. Tammany with all the economic activity. ...

re: Duck hunter numbers down? - TigerDog83
I agree 30 and 3 would weed out all but the true die-hard duck hunters. However, there is way too much money being pumped into the sport for it to ever go back I am afraid.
Agree 100%. Half of the hunters now want to kill a 100 pile stack of birds, put the pics on social media, an...

re: Duck hunter numbers down? - TigerDog83
Private land "for common hunters" is not going to get cheaper. My company leases 3 blinds in rice and bean fields for 10k a year. And its hunted dang near every day with either employees or clients. That's cheap entertainment for 60 days a year to us. That is 9 clients we can bring a day. tha...

re: Coastal Zone duck reports - TigerDog83
Anyone here hunt Catahoula Lake?

Catahoula was very poor ..... probably the fewest birds I've ever seen there in November when the lake wasn't flooded out. Besides good water levels, the habitat conditions are very poor; my guys doing the annual vegetation survey in October ...

re: Coastal Zone duck reports - TigerDog83
We have 9 of 28 lines left to fly, all in SE LA. Finished SW and Catahoula Lake. Crunching the SW numbers now, so don't have a total, but we saw good numbers of gadwalls south of West Cove of Lake Calcasieu, on the East Cove Unit of Cameron Prairie NWR, and on Rockefeller south of Hwy 82. Ano...

re: Duck Season - its almost here baws - TigerDog83
Saw Larry's early survey posts elsewhere. Sounds like it could be a good early season this year. He also mentions the Swan Lake illinois valley count being 324K ducks - 3rd highest ever and earliest this count has been that high. 66K gadwalls. Canada seems to be frozen early this year. Catahoul...

re: Found All The Geese - TigerDog83
This season looks like it could start strong. Forbes Biological Station is reporting some huge counts in Illinois and Mississippi River valley in the middle states for this time of year. Their last count is the 3rd highest in their history. Swan Lake up there is holding 325K birds including 65K ga...

re: Can you buy chien caille speck call online anywhere? - TigerDog83
I've got a Chien Caille and a Riceland and the Chien Caille never gets picked up. It takes a lot more air and I can't use it near as well as the Riceland. I had the old version of the Chien Caille that cost like $20 way back in the day but the barrel fell out while I was hunting years ago. The ne...

re: LA Times keeping it classy: Yu Darvish cost the Dodgers the World Series. - TigerDog83
The Dodgers really were hurt because Turner and Bellenger were virtually nonexistent in the series. Peterson played way over his head to counter act some of that but Bellenger got exploited down and in and could not adjust. Turner did very little save for his one homer. Throw in Puig not doing a ...
