By actively stalling aid to Ukraine for over one year now? That's a funny way to show support.

Again, always watch what he does as opposed to what he says.

Well, Trump was the one to send actual weapons to Ukraine. Not blankets and medicine.

And this cuts directly against the Russian supporters itt hoping for Trump to completely withdraw US aid to Ukraine.

No one will buy Russian debt unless forced to internally. Their GDP is that of a 3rd world nation.

The cost per barrel of oil produced is around $50 each thus they are not actually profiting the amount paid per barrel. Even tight shale crude is cheaper to find and produce.

ISW Update

quote:

Key Takeaways:

Ukrainian forces reportedly conducted drone strikes targeting Rostov Oblast overnight on March 8-9 and may have struck a Russian aircraft plant refurbishing and modernizing Russian A-50 long range radar detection aircraft.

Russian sources widely circulated footage of a Russian strike on March 9 to claim that Russian forces destroyed a Patriot air defense system in eastern Ukraine, although there has yet to be any confirmation of these claims.

US officials reportedly told CNN that Russia considered using “tactical or battlefield” nuclear weapons in Ukraine in 2022 – during the same time Russia conducted an intense information operation aimed at the West about Russia potentially using a nuclear weapon against Ukraine to deter Western support for Ukraine.

Senior Armenian officials stated that Armenia is considering seeking membership in the European Union (EU), against the backdrop of deteriorating Russian-Armenian relations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine would be open to negotiations with Russia only after Ukraine and its partners develop a peace plan and as Turkey continues to promote its own negotiation platform for the war in Ukraine.

Russian forces recently made confirmed advances near Kreminna and Avdiivka amid continued positional fighting along the entire frontline on March 9.

Open-source researchers analyzed satellite imagery and assessed that Russia has reportedly removed 25 to 40 percent of its tank strategic reserves, depending on the model, from open-air storage facilities, although ISW cannot independently verify this report.

Adding the bit about the Patriot system
quote:

The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) published footage on March 9 purportedly of Russian forces striking a Ukrainian S-300 air defense missile launcher with Iskander missiles near Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast.[5] Russian sources amplified additional footage of the strike’s aftermath purportedly showing destroyed German MAN KAT1 trucks, which can be used as a base for Patriot air defense missile launchers.[6] Russian sources used this footage to claim that Russian forces destroyed a MIM-104 Patriot air defense system, although the Russian MoD has yet to revise its earlier claim about destroying a Ukrainian S-300 system.[7] Russian state media outlet RIA Novosti reported that a source in Russian law enforcement stated that the Russian Iskander strike destroyed two Patriot air defense systems.[8] Several OSINT social media accounts concluded that the strike likely destroyed a Ukrainian Patriot air defense system, although another OSINT account noted that Ukrainian forces also use the MAN KAT1 trucks as logistics vehicles.[9] ISW has not yet observed evidence confirming that Russian forces destroyed a Patriot air defense system.

Add to this refinery efficiency. Europe was purchasing vacuum gas oil and diesel from Russia before 2022, a lot of it. Russia is banning exports of gasoline for 6 months. This means that it has had to cut back on refiniing capacity a lot for there to be a shortage of gasoline. A refinery will produce an almost fixed ratio of gasoline, distillates (jet fuel and diesel) and vacuum gas oil. The only way this varies by much is if the crude oil chemistry input varies.

Refineries in Russia are definitely operating below capacity. Even if selling only in Russia, they are not profitable, and like deficit spending as part of the war effort.

Refined products were the real profit center for Russia petroleum industry pre 2022.

FWIW, vacuum gas oil is used to feed cat crackers and hydrocrackers.

My "dream" is that Americans will quit pretending like this war has any impact on America and for the government to quit sending taxpayer money to a corrupt shithole.

It does have an impact on Americans because of said tax dollars. We would all like for Ukraine to kick Russia completely out, but that’s not happening. This is a war that Russia started, and in a just world Russia would be held accountable for the lives lost and the economic destruction of a country, but again, that’s not happening. This is just another endless war that’s happened over the last 20 years.

Been sipping the vodka I see?

The supposed second most powerful military in the world is struggling with a far smaller army. Discipline. lol.

The Russian army would crumble against a modern NATO force. Especially in its current state

Russia is no better than the 6th or 7th strongest military.

Us, China, Israel, France, UK would all kick the absolute dogshit out of Russia yet the MIC simps on here keep insisting on these ludicrous Putin / Hitler comparisons

British Defence Intelligence
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 10 March 2024

Ukraine has almost certainly accelerated the construction of defensive positions on several areas of the front line. This includes anti-tank dragon's teeth and ditches, infantry trenches, minefields, and fortified defensive positions.

It is highly likely the expansion of defensive lines will reduce Russia's ability to advance or exploit tactical gains as part of its ongoing offensive operations. The establishment of major defensive positions is indicative of the attritional character of the conflict and means that any attempt to conduct breaching operations will highly likely be accompanied with high losses.

Oil depot on fire after drone attack in Kursk, Russia – video
Roman Petrenko — Sunday, 10 March 2024, 08:44

Authorities in the Russian city of Kursk say a fire has broken out at an oil depot after a drone attack.

Source: Kursk Oblast Governor Roman Starovoit; Telegram channel Shot

Details: The Russians claim that air defence systems were operating, and an allegedly "Ukrainian drone" "fell and caught fire" on the territory of the oil depot.

Firefighters are working at the scene.

The media also reported that a massive fire broke out on a gas pipeline near the village of Likhma in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.

Previously: UK Defence Intelligence analysed the impact of Ukrainian drone attacks targeting Russian facilities on Russia's oil refining industry.

North Northwest of Lykhma is a large processing complex or by far the largest compressor station which I could ever imagine.

Were the Russians once again trying to unblock the pipeline from hydrates formation, with torches? Quite normal with their mindset. An explosion happened there a year ago. Temperature is -4 today.

Major natural gas pipelines from near the northern coast go through here to get to Kursk

The oblast produces half of Russia's oil.

This should have been done as soon as their last offensive stalled.
