Listening to the interview now. Gary was not just pretending to be on the airport phone? He actually called someone first? So freaking awesome.

Anyone else would have been locked in. Gary was talking to his buddy from the payphone, “I’m about to shoot, you’ll hear it”. Absolute legend.

When will Jeff Landry give Gary a posthumous pardon?

November 10th, 1945.

He shares a birthday with the USMC and his birthday killed the 29 men on the Edmond Fitzgerald.

I watched the whole episode. Good stuff. I thought I knew you and your dad’s story well, but this was an excellent candid appearance.

3 take aways.

1. The toilet paper pad in your pants at school incase of a fart. My god. I don’t think anyone has a clue how much abuse you were actually put through. That tidbit of info lays down a massive amount of information.

2. I’m thinking a Netflix special is in the works.

3. I knew you had a good sense of humor about everything but to see it in person and watch you work a room to keep the subject comfortable for everyone is impressive.

I’m currently (and somewhat reluctantly) watching Quiet on the Set on HBO. As the father of a 2 year old and 3 month old I’m extremely vigilant with my kids as any parent should be. Your willingness to publicly share your story helped with that a lot, Jody. God bless.

A friend once told me that his father had missed a call from Gary just before the Gary called a second friend who picked up.

Ha I bought your book a few years ago after realizing you were on TD. Good to put a face with the person. I hope to have a beer with you one day. Enjoyed that interview.

Chicken get this man a swag bag with tshirts and koozies.

I watched the whole thing, about halfway through my wife asked what I was watching and she was glued to it. Lots of questions answered I would never feel comfortable asking.

Either a movie or Netflix deal, but Hollywood needs to pay you. Consider it a down payment for all the awful stuff that goes on out there.

Thanks for being a regular poster and being so open about it. I can’t imagine dealing with something like that from anyone involved. You, your father, mother etc.
