You absolutely can. The biggest mistake we made in Afghanistan was boots on the ground. Just keep sending in a guided missile every time they pop their heads up. You cannot invade a country into democracy, particularly full of people whose entire culture is built on control.

Yeah I'd say the Indian/Pakistan conflict is a bit different as they share a border and both have the power to inflict serious damage on one another.

Right. I don’t relish the idea of Iran getting nukes but there’s no sign of them actually being anywhere close to having them; the whole thing is just electoral cycle scare tactic fodder / a tool for Bibi to lead us around on a leash to stay relevant.
Meanwhile our al-Qaeda harboring quasi allies in Pakistan are a dust up away from nuclear escalation.

I was in high school when the whole “Bring democracy to Iraq” was the battle cry and I bought it, like any over zealous teenage patriotic American would.
Now that I’m older and slightly less dumb, spreading democracy is the absolute last reason I want to hear as a justification to go to war.
I only want hot wars as retaliatory actions to another nation or nations attacking American citizens. And I want that war to be swift, merciless, and brutal from our end. I do not want prolonged occupation unless we are completely dead set on imperial style colonization, which I DO NOT WANT!!!!
This whole “we are going to occupy you and spend our blood and treasure on your people and infrastructure until you realize and accept western morals and ideals” is laughable. The only way democracy and western ideals spread is grass root growth, not militarism.
