It’s always bothered me. Mostly because if you dig up someone from a grave, they’re no longer able to go to heaven.

I think any of that kind of thinking goes out the window after thousands of years where no one alive today even knows that person exists. It's not like they're digging up pee-paw that died in 1980.

I was listening to someone in a podcast once and they were on the same topic. This person said they'd asked a friend who was an archaeologist how long does it take for Grave robbing to turn into Archeology.
The person responded with something like "This is going to be uncomfortable, but about 50 years"

I want to be buried with a book of my autobiography with pictures from my entire life and have it preserved somehow so it doesn’t decay. That way if anyone ever digs me up a long time from now they’ll know who I was and my life story

After one generation no one cares about your grave unless you're famous. Sad but true. They are interesting from an archaeological and architectural perspective. They can be beautiful like Arlington or the cemeteries in New Orleans, or Paris, etc.
I think what makes more sense than burying people is having rememberance parks. Places of tranquility and reflection. No recreation, bbqs, sports, etc. Quiet almost like a library. Instead of paying out the arse to put bones in the ground that no one will remember, spend the money on landscaping, security to keep out trash, etc.

It’s amazing how many state archaeologists are opposed to people finding/collecting things like arrowheads, yet they have large personal collections of items themselves.
Then figure in a tremendous amount of material is taken in by museums that remain locked away from the public, stored unlabeled in dusty boxes.

I lived on the other side of the world for a while and had a good friend who worked with human remains and graves (ancient and modern) for a variety of purposes. Some were to study ancient cultures, but she later shifted to a job where she was identifying remains of US service personnel lost in various conflicts to return them home or place them in honored situations.
Your representation of no respect is far from accurate or fair, but there may be some unprofessional people doing some work elsewhere.
Understanding the history of cultures and how cultural changes took place has value.
And yes, respect for their religious beliefs is important.
