TBF, almost every holiday except for arguably New Years Day is a made up holiday. I mean, even look at Christmas- even if you believe that Jesus is God, where's the proof that he was really born on December 25?

being that you're TD's atheist theologian, I'm still waiting on you to address the questions I left for you in the "23 year old Muslim Pedophile Caught in California Sting!" thread.
Just some very basic questions, should be a quick exercise for you.

If my ancestors were slaves, emancipated, and ~100 years later my parents could not take Sunday drives as family/kids because they could not stop for pee breaks because their government did not allow them to use the facilities or, quite possibly, the locals would harm them…

Don’t know if I would need a holiday.

A stamp or one of them Texas A&M cups might be nice touch.

My issue is with the name itself it’s not properly accurate since Juneteenth can mean any day from 13th-19th

Too many fat plant workers that get upset about days off because they’re chasing that “sweet OT” to pay for their ole lady’s Denali

Not typically a good day to have a holiday... cold, gets dark early ,in between Thanksgiving and Christmas

Would be a good holiday, with the exception of the occasional doubling up either Good Friday and Easter.

Let's just let June 19th represent all of the important dates pertaining to the elimination of slavery.

Accuracy is how you roll! Precision is how you extol.

If properly named, huh…

I lived in Houston when Kwanzaa was invented and then venerated by a part of the community.

A couple of years later, along came June Teenth, and the rest of the community nodded, smiled knowingly and thought it would go away as Kwanzaa did.
How wrong we were, even though we knew the real story of the few counties for whom it had meant history well over a hundred years earlier.

My boss was texting me this morning and I sent back "sorry Juneteenth today cant work." Cant be calling today a holiday and charging everyone holiday PTO and then start calling about non emergency shite. Bout to start smoking some ribs. Juneteenth and father's day on the same weekend = old school dad mode for this dude. Gonna drink beer in the kiddie pool, cook outside, fish off of a bucket, and watch my wife catch hell with the kids while I do not a damned thing productive cause I been at work all week. Eta: might even go meet the boys at the local saloon and blow a few days pay getting day drunk and shooting pool and come home 3 hours later than I said I would completely ungovernable. Hopefully I can persuade them to join me in playing 1980 dad this weekend.

Well I guess them celebrating one out of two things is still batting .500.

Libs always play the race card.

I'm talking about bullshite federal holidays. Gov't workers already get a buttload of them. Pretty soon they'll just get the whole year off with pay.

Never understood why people get so butthurt when people get the day off.

I live on a rural golf course. 36 holes. I just took my cart out for a spin. Both courses are packed with people. More than a typical Saturday.
