Outside of Old Metairie, the rest of the city is kinda ugly. Mostly older 70s stock homes, ugly strip malls, and aging apartment buildings throughout. Tp its credit, outside of the apartment buildings and shitty public schools, it's still pretty decent and property values are rising.

Big Lee you mean and it was sweet because he was in Old Metairie, not that crappy regular Metairie.

It is probably similar to hundreds of other decent suburbs across the country.

I have some friends in Bucktown, its a nice little street they live on with nice houses and friendly neighbors all around. The levee to walk your dog or go for a run.

Doesn't seem too bad over there.

I’m laughing in Dominic Impastato. Dude looks like he ate 20 clowns as an appetizer and acts even worse.

Yes. We’ve all visited every single suburb in the country and therefore we have the knowledge to answer that Metairie is the least aesthetically pleasing.

Some of the neighborhoods by the lake aren't bad. But Kenner sucks as a whole.

Metairie was built out 40 years ago. Anything new needs to be built over existing property. It just needs to cycle through and it’s certainly happening now.

Metairie reminds me of what kind of aesthetic I would find in a Dentist’s office in 1987 with a dentist with a weird 80s perm who listens to Kenny G in his building and the hue of the interior is beige and everyone kind of whispers in the office because it’s such a lame place the energy just kind of puts people to sleep and the dentist pathetically thinks he’s the man

Idfk it rubs me the wrong way on such a visceral level

It is a cultural vacuum devoid of anything noteworthy

Metairie hasn't been the same since Fat City went to seed.

You don’t know much about the eastern half of Metairie do you?

True. But, in the 80s and even into the 90s, the place I wanted to live in the future was Chateau Estates. Now, you can get a fairly large house for a decent price in Château Estates because it’s surrounded by crap. Plus, when you look at the houses in there that are for sale. they look like you've been transported back to the 70s.

What you’re describing isn’t unusual for a suburb that has an older main drag into the city running through it.

Ex: Hwy 80 through Pearl, MS
